Welsh Country Cottages

An inspiring collection of properties chosen for their character, luxury and heritage, all graded 4 star and above..

A beautiful family home, ideal for larger groups, with open fires and enclosed courtyard with hot tub and a beach close by.

This property is set in the historic town of Beaumaris on the Menai Strait - with its medieval castle dating back to the reign of Edward I, and its Victorian pier, gaol and courthouse. Situated amongst a row of properties, Kings House was built in the 18th century about 1720. It did not however become the Inn until 1829, and has not functioned in that capacity for over 100 years. Deceptive in size from the front, the property offers spacious holiday accommodation, with six large bedrooms and plenty of living space. The good-sized courtyard to the rear of the property is opened onto from the conservatory and snug.
There is plenty to do in the area, with sailing being a very popular pastime. For golfing enthusiasts, there are two good golf courses to play on, and with several restaurants and pubs in the area, visitors will be spoilt for choice when it comes to eating out. Horse riding can also be found locally. There are also the many beaches in the area - Beaumaris has its own small beach, but not too far away is Red Wharf Bay which has a large sandy beach. There are also many other beaches on the island - Rhosneigr and Trearddur Bay to name just two. The nearest beach is just 1 minute’s walk from the property. Discover the island’s varied coastline, which is perfect for watersports, leisure centres and Sea Zoo.
For those who reluctantly wish to leave the beauty of Anglesey, North Wales offers unrivalled beauty in the form of the Snowdonia National Park. Historic castles await exploration and there are many excellent walks to suit all levels. Llandudno makes for an enjoyable day out, as does a trip on the Ffestiniog Railway. Day trips are available to Ireland from Holyhead port. Shops 200 yards, pub 20 yards.

Kings House is a splendid old house, amazingly spacious, lots of bathrooms, and Beaumaris is a wonderful little town. The kids loved the hot tub, and the adults enjoyed the large kitchen table, and strolls along the Menai Straits with outstanding views of Snowdonia. The house is let down by little things. The barbecue was filthy, and there are few things worse than having to clean someone else's grease off the racks. There were fag ends in the yard. Lots of missing lightbulbs. No basics like washing up brush / scourer, matches, sugar, pepper, soap in washbasins. Too few toilet rolls, and only 2 tea towels. The place gives the impression of being spoilt for a haporth of tar because it is not cheap. If the owner spent a few pounds on the basics, and some care over the cleaning this letting would be first rate.

12 of us met for anniversary celebrations, it suited 2 families of 4 & 2 of 2. First impression was not favourable, dirty windows in the conservatory & the patio covered in weeds. We met the owner who cleared the weeds & I cleaned the windows. The only 1 bed was comfortable, & we had no bath mats or enough hand towels. The kitchen was well stocked , with everything but a pair of scissors !! the oven was more like an incinerator, burnt every thing. The huge kitchen was great seated 14 of us at one time.We all loved the hot tub & BBQ. The biggest concern was the industrial bins which were full to overflowing when we left, a real health hazard, for this reason we haven't given the house a high score. Beaumaris is a lovely little town & the house ideally situated, parking a bit of a problem.

Loved the house and the location. The only downside was the television signal and the oven was difficult to understand. There was either a fault with the thermostat or I was using it wrong! Otherwise everything was spot on! Beautiful house! Reminded me of my childhood memories in my Grandparents house!

Massive cottage. Like a tardis! Great party house. Hot tub is a bonus. Just lacking a welcome info book with instructions for hot tub when it goes off (turns out it had tripped the fuse), heating instructions (as house was freezing on arrival at 4pm) and wifi password (had to search for the router which is on 2nd floor landing!) We did eventually find a little book in the kitchen dresser but nothing useful in it to help us at the time. Rang owner a few times to help! Bedrooms are all large even the twin rooms. Kitchen has everything you need in it. Lots of bathrooms. Large kitchen table seats 10 comfortablyou 12 is a squeeze but has extra little tables in kitchen. Lounge seats 7. Extra armchairs in little lounge which we did manage to drag one down into main lounge, some friends sat on the floor as doesn't seat 12. Parking was a bit tricky on the friday night. You can only park outside the cottage for 1hour for unloading then the car has to be moved. We did all eventually find a space on adjacent roads or at the top of the road max 5 min walk. Local tapas restaurant called the Midland serves delicious fresh food and has a fun party atmosphere and is very popular. Beaumaris is a very scenic area and good for long walks.

What a wonderful time we had at kings House, very deceptive it was like a Tardis, very spacious, clean and comfortable. Location was brilliant, within walking distance to many amenities. Only downside was parking but as we visited out of season it wasn't too much of an issue. We have recommended it to friends and look forward to visiting again soon.
