We booked Island Bay View during the first week in August and were thoroughly delighted with this chalet which has a secluded setting near the end of Loch Long. The scenery is breathtaking and the peace and quiet is a joy after city life. The chalet is very comfortable and spotlessly clean and the facilities are excellent including dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer which means chores can be completed whilst out and about sightseeing. There are lovely local hill walks (medium and hard) on both sides of Loch Long and at nearby Kyle of Lockalsh and an hour or so drive takes you into the dramatic landscape of the Isle of Skye. Rhoda the owner was very welcoming and helpful and we have already decided that when we next return to Scotland it will be to this chalet.

Hello! The cottage and the hosts are gorgeos! Even though, the cottage wasn’t that clean and we had explicitly to ask for heating. Beside, I was realy chocked of the Scottish way to dispose of bulky waste: they just throw it into the countryside! Nevertheless, we had some wonderful days with plenty to do in and around Island Bay View and really enjoyed our time!

The four of us had a great stay at Island Bay View!It is spacious and homely , and the views are amazing! It is a bit remote, but the shops are not far away. You will get a limited number of Mb's, when they have been used , there is no internet! There is no mobile signal either , you will have to drive some miles to receive a signal! The hosts are very helpfull and live close by.If you're in for a challenge , drive up to Applecross taking the road on the mountain !Eilean Donan Castle is close by , and a must , as it's the most beautiful castle in Scotland!

Great views! We stayed in January so saw less wildlife as expected, but we did see herons, a fox and lots of small birds. It's very quiet and peaceful. It's three miles from the main road but the single-track lane is metalled and regularly gritted when needed. The nearest pub, in Plockton (off season) is absolutely brilliant! Two beers on handpump, one from the local brewery in the village. Also a great choice of gins and Scottish whiskies. The ever-changing menu icludes fisk, shellfish, meats and vegetarian dishes. The owners are friendly and helpful. Internet is a bit unreliable but the owners will reboot the router on request and this normally fixes it. The underfloor heating makes it cosy and they will adjust the timings if you ask (we are early risers). There's a very good Co-Op in Kyle which is only eleven miles away. It's right handy for exploring Skye.

Great location for peace and quiet whilst taking in all the views. Lovely cottage with good access. No shops near by, so transport will be required. So quiet, we saw a Deer wander past our window at 7am unaware we were watching. So close to nature. In the Loch below we saw Otter diving in and out of the waters.
