Description

Bonnie’s Bothy is a perfect retreat tucked away amidst the stunning scenery of the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park.

This is a superb location for a family holiday, hidden away in Invertrossachs in Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. Your journey to the cottages takes you through some of the most spectacular scenery along the side of Loch Venachar. Originally built at the beginning of the 1900s as part of Invertrossachs Estate for the game keeper, this area has long been known for its outstanding natural beauty. Queen Victoria visited the estate in 1869 and planted a tree to commemorate the visit. A magical place for nature lovers and bird watchers, you are surrounded by ancient woodland with deer, pine martens, otters who fish in the stream, flora and fauna. A perfect location to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings of this spectacular area.
If you prefer to go out into the great outdoors then you are spoilt for choice. From your doorstep there is an abundance of footpaths, cycle tracks, sailing and fishing. There are some excellent mountain walks locally with Ben Ledi, Ben Venue, Ben Lomond, all within a short drive. There is a local golf course in Callander and several excellent courses within an hour’s drive, including Gleneagles. Nearby Callander, a Victorian tourist town and famed for being the location for the original TV series of Dr Finlay’s casebook, is a good place to enjoy a meal or drink, stock up with supplies and some general retail therapy.
Bonnie’s Bothy (UKC2132) is a detached cottage and is perfect for a couple, in a quiet location with a private enclosed decked area with table and chairs, perfect for the summer months. The open plan living area has a cosy wood burner so you can curl up and relax after a long walk in the woods. Use of the owners tennis court, putting green and multi-purpose basketball court, 1 mile away, can be arranged directly with the owner. Grace’s Cottage (UKC2133) is an exceptionally well furnished, detached property that has been well equipped for a superbly relaxing holiday. All on one level the large open plan living area boasts a well-equipped kitchen with a range, perfect for preparing a special meal and a spacious dining area leading to the cosy living area with a wood burner. French doors lead out onto a patio and into the garden which has a stream where you can fish for trout, and if you’re lucky, see the otters. A lovely cottage that is tucked away at the end of private road . So secluded which is what we loved . Interior was really nice and clean . Fire had be prepared ready to light. Welcome pack a lovely suprise. Spent a few evenings and early mornings relaxing in garden. Watch out for the red squirrels they are there just be patient . We cloned Ben lomond for my 30th which was a good challenge . Around an hour's drive to car park . Highly recommend wildlife park in aberfoyle aswell. I hope we can return to this hidden gem of a property soon . Thank you James , davinia , fern the dog and bump

An ideal place for a cosy getaway for two. We took our dog who was very safe and happy on the enclosed decking. Very clean and comfortable throughout. We did not meet the owners however they provided clear instructions on how to get there and were available on phone if required. Lovely welcome hamper greeted us on arrival. Superb position close to the loch-ideally placed for exploring the area. Would definitely love to visit again.

What a beautiful little cottage, pictures don’t do it justice. Lots of brilliant countryside and views. Welcome pack was excellent and owners gave us a detailed travel itinerary. I will book again.

Exactly what it says in the description. Beautiful location. Remote, with plenty of walks/ cycling routes from your doorstep so no need to drive anywhere if that's what you're looking for. Callander only 5 miles away for local amenities. Cottage very warm and clean. Much nicer than what we were expecting. The photos don't do it justice. Jean and David the owners were very friendly and exceptionally helpful. We were well looked after. Definitely return for another holiday.

My wife and I, along with our dog, had a great New Year break at Bonnie's Bothy. It's just perfect for two, with all the amenities required for a break. The directions to the place were spot on, and thanks to David, who sent even more detailed directions, we found our way there without any problem. The cottage was warm on our arrival and when we lit the log stove on returning from our first walk, it really enhanced the atmosphere. The view from the cottage is admittedly limited, but just a few yards along a very quiet road, is access to a wonderful walk along the lochside, while just a short way further along, is access to great walks through the forest and onto the hills. The welcome pack was much appreciated, as was the Christmas tree in the room. A lovely snowman greeted us by the front door, no doubt left by the previous visitors, but he had melted away by the time we left. All in all, a great stay and thanks to David for his kindness.

What an amazing place. We first visited here 11 years ago for my husband's birthday and we delighted to find that we had booked the same place again (different name!). The Bothy was a delight, a wonderful hamper was left for us and the Bothy had a wonderful 'homely' feeling. We will definitely book to come again and promise that we won't leave it 11 years before we return! Thank you so much

Lovely cottage, we spent a fantastic weekend here and would have liked to stay for longer. The surrounding scenery is fantastic. The cottage is spotless and in an ideal location for visiting the highlands and all they have to offer and still less than an hour from Stirling, Edinburgh and Glasgow.. We will be back here again..
