An inspiring collection of properties chosen for their character, luxury and heritage, all graded 4 star and above.

Enjoy uninterrupted views of the surrounding countryside, a short 10-minute walk to the sea from this period, Victorian, detached holiday cottage.

Horsepark Cottage is a delightful Galloway cottage, located only a short walk from Sandgreen and Carrick beaches in this beautiful corner of South West Scotland. The wood-burning stove in the spacious living room and the conservatory overlooking the garden are particularly attractive features of this holiday cottage. Whilst in a delightful rural location, the property is only 3 miles from the charming town of Gatehouse of Fleet, offering a wide range for places to eat and relax. There are many attractions in and around the town including the mill at the Fleet Visitor Centre, Cardoness Castle, and the popular Laggan Outdoor Activity Centre which is host to one of Europe’s longest zip wires. The area has numerous walks available, from scenic coastal walks to forest trails. With sailing, swimming, riding, fishing, golf, boat trips and water sports are close by, there is sure to be something for everyone. Warmed by the Gulf Stream, there are many beautiful gardens to visit, including Threave Gardens (NT). Close to the Galloway Forest Park and central to 5 of the 7Stanes, it is a popular location for cyclists and mountain bikers. Only a short drive away, Kirkcudbright, known as ’the artists’ town’, attracts visitors throughout the year drawn by the harbour, the historic high street and the diverse range of annual events and visitor attractions. The popular programme of summer festivities culminates with the spectacular Tattoo, an event not to be missed. Beach 1 mile. Shop, pub and restaurant 3 miles.

Had to purchase four bags of logs to keep warm in the evening. There is no control for the heating and the bedroom felt damp on our arrival. The bedroom radiator didn't come on at all during the week we were there. Not good on chilly autumn mornings.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We have taken on board these comments and have provided more detailed instructions regarding the heating; this should now be clearer and should cover all concerns. The heating is activated thermostatically and the radiators are always on. A large basket of logs is provided as a starter pack and further logs can be purchased nearby at Gatehouse of Fleet. Such a pity you did not contact me as I could have helped.

Absolutely loved it! what a beautiful place, so comfy, clean, tastefully decorated and well equipped. The birds were so lovely to watch on the feeders, if you fill the feeders up you will be rewarded!. The bulls in the surrounding fields were so comical with their noisy interactions, there were lots of interesting places to visit within a short distance, and lots of lovely walks to the beach. The stars in the sky at night were breathtaking! Overall a wonderful stay and we all fell in love with Scotland! :)

A quiet location down a country lane. Lovely scenery and about 15 minutes walk to a beach (not sandy) but quite a way from shops and other facilities. Comfortable spacious accommodation on ground floor including ensuite double bedroom but 2 bedrooms upstairs are in the roof and have low ceilings. Electric radiators keep all but bathrooms warm. Bathroom and ensuite are clean and spacious but the tiled floor was a bit cold and the heating in these rooms had to be switched on when needed - not ideal for cold mornings. This wasn't such a problem as to stop us going again though - we loved the solitude, quiet location and surrounding countryside views.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Glad you enjoyed your holiday at Horsepark cottage. We look forward to seeing you again soon and hopefully you will discover the beautiful sandy beach at Carrick bay which is only a sort walk from the cottage. Ideal for familys, don't forget the bucket and spade.
