Guests can enjoy the comforts of a glowing wood burner when evenings become chilly, and on warmer evenings, twin terraces provide the opportunity to sit back and absorb the lakeside view after a day’s cycling or walking along the plethora of footpaths, and being able to enjoy a sundowner as the setting sun changes the glowing colour of Bewl Water before your eyes. The surrounding Bewl Water is the largest stretch of water in the south east, so you can spend a day fishing, sailing, canoeing or wind surfing. If dry land is more your style, bring your own bicycle (or hire one) and cycle around Bewl - the village of Wadhurst is within easy reach, where pubs, restaurants and shops abound. Many notable National Trust gardens and houses are within an easy drive, including Scotney Castle, Sissinghurst, Chartwell, Batemans, Knole House and Bodiam Castle. Brighton, Rye and Camber Sands are also within easy reach of this little jewel of Sussex heaven. Beach 22 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

The cottage is in an excellent location with stunning views. We enjoyed a relaxing and peaceful stay despite the very mixed weather. Lots of National Trust properties close by and some good pubs with Wadhurst having all the basic amenities that may be needed.t

Excellent holiday accommodation in a beautiful setting overlooking Bewl Water. Wildlife in abundance. The owners were very nice and helpful and checked that we were happy with everything. This was our second stay in this property and we have already booked for our third stay next year. Can’t wait.

This is an amazing place to stay. So beautiful and quiet. We stayed Easter weekend and were rather touched as the owners left us Easter eggs. Lovely walks and a nature reserve nearby. I would recommend this cottage the views are stunning.

Hoppers Cottage is a modern cottage set in the peaceful, tranquil setting by Burwash Reservoir. It has significance for my family as my grandparents used to visit the farm for Hop Picking every summer for many years back in the day and the current cottage is built on the site of one of the old buildings that the pickers used to stay in. James Fuggle and his sister are lovely hosts and have done the old buildings justice, showing respect to an old way of life now sadly in the distant past. If you enjoy dark, cosy nights, long country walks and the odd pub lunch in “old as the hills” pubs then Hoppers Cottage is for you. We will definitely return.

Set in the most idyllic location, this cottage is the perfect place to forget about all stresses and worries and just relax. The cottage is beautifully warm and cosy with scenes over Bewl Waters from every window. The garden is secure for dogs and the walks start straight from the back door right down to the waters edge. James the host could not have been more helpful . We will definitely be returning - I have never been anywhere quite like it before
