Perfect for those seeking entertain while having a great base, this cottage offers nearby York with its variety of attractions.

Two miles from the city centre, these renovated, spacious 18th century farm buildings stand around a large landscaped courtyard amid open fields. Reached by a 200 yard private drive, they make an excellent holiday base for visiting the city, whilst returning to a country retreat. The cobbled streets be-decked with flowers, home to many street artistes, house many interesting specialist shops, restaurants and bars and an open street market, sometimes visited by continental markets. Alternatively take a leisurely trip along the river, stopping at riverside inns. Two golf courses, a sports centre, Waterworld theme swimming pool, theatres, multi cinema complex, bowling alley, all lie within two miles, and there is a large playing field with football nets in the grounds. lovely find comfortable although we take a camping chair as we don't like anyone sitting in the middle of a couch

Excellent weekend. Would highly recommend this group of letting. Owner friendly and I'm sure if you needed he would answer any questions that you would have. Property very clean and tea, coffee, milk, sugar and a small loaf and butter to start you off. A Toby Carvery just at the top of the road but wise to use a car as the road not suitable for pedestrians. Excellent meal though. 1 mile to the Park and Ride and Monks Cross shopping centre. About 7/8 miles away there is McArthur Glen outlet.

Nice touch having tea, coffee, milk, bread and butter waiting for us in our arrival and a very thorough introduction to the property.

Great place to stay. Close to the York attractions with a nice country feel to it.

Excellent position for York with a Park and Ride just a mile up the road next to a huge shopping complex. A pub with a carvery is 2 tenths of a mile from the cottage. Trips to Filey, Scarborough and Whitby are not too far away. There are umpteen places of interest in the area. The owner is on site and very helpful. If there are children in the group there is a football area where they can let off steam. Also a pool table is available in a separate building. Probably the only niggle would be there wasn't a shower attachment on the bath in the upstairs bathroom, leaving only one shower. With 6 adults this was time consuming first thing in the morning. However it was only a niggle and did not spoil our enjoyment. The downstairs bedroom and bathroom are always a plus as one of our party struggles with stairs.
