Excellent position for York with a Park and Ride just a mile up the road next to a huge shopping complex. A pub with a carvery is 2 tenths of a mile from the cottage. Trips to Filey, Scarborough and Whitby are not too far away. There are umpteen places of interest in the area. The owner is on site and very helpful. If there are children in the group there is a football area where they can let off steam. Also a pool table is available in a separate building. Probably the only niggle would be there wasn't a shower attachment on the bath in the upstairs bathroom, leaving only one shower. With 6 adults this was time consuming first thing in the morning. However it was only a niggle and did not spoil our enjoyment. The downstairs bedroom and bathroom are always a plus as one of our party struggles with stairs.

We read all the reviews, sounded like a nice place with lovely friendly owners, we arrived on the 10th of February and there was no one to meet us. We ended up having to compare photos on internet to try and found which house was ours, the keys were hung on the coat hooks inside. Next day we went looking for the hot tub and games room, and then John came out to see us. He was nice old chap but where was he when he arrived?? Had a serious complaint about hot tub on Tuesday been smelly and unclean. Couldn't get in contact with owner or anyone and in end had to ring holiday company. Next day we had a very nasty woman knock on our door who simply started the conversation with "there was nothing wrong with the hot tub" there was no hello or anything, where was the nice team that everyone is talking about? However later that day we came back early from our day out to see the same woman walk out of the hot tub building with an arm full of bottles and chemicals. We went and investigated later and found the hot tub smelling a awful lot better and the water looking clearer and cleaner. The cottage was OK if you like 70's decor. We had no instructions how to do anything. We had hardly any hot water, so not only did the shower need the drain unblocking of a ton of hair as water would not drain away. Only two of us could havea very quick shower before the water had run out and we would have to wait for the tank to heat back up. It really wasnt a relaxing holiday.

A beautiful cottage, it was warm, cosy, very well fitted-out and the owner was a delight. Not a bad word to say about it.

Lovely home from home. John and his team have worked hard to provide a very warm welcome in a comfortable cottage which is ideally situated for many interesting days out in the area.

Very peaceful, the hayloft was very cosy and spacious. The hot tub and sauna were really great, the location was perfect for so many of York wonderful attractions. We plan to return soon so we can visit more of what York has to offer.
