Step through the door of Home Farm and into more than 400 years of Yorkshire Dales history. Dating back to 1621, this exceptional Grade II listed farmhouse in Starbotton offers an unforgettable country escape for families and friends, surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of Upper Wharfedale.
Original beams, exposed stone walls, flagstone floors, decorative timber panelling and magnificent fireplaces tell the story of this remarkable home, while thoughtful modern comforts make it a welcoming place to relax. Spend cosy evenings together in the sitting room, retreat to the elegant drawing room, play music or curl up with a book in the characterful library. The spacious farmhouse kitchen, complete with an Aga and informal dining area, forms the warm heart of the house, while the formal dining room provides a memorable setting for celebrations and special meals.
Five generously proportioned double bedrooms and five bathrooms make Home Farm ideal for larger families and group holidays in the Yorkshire Dales. Some bedrooms feature beautiful antique four poster beds, allowing guests to wake beneath a piece of the property’s history. Outside, paved terraces, mature gardens and lawns offer peaceful places to enjoy a morning coffee, an evening drink or simply the sounds of the surrounding countryside. Private parking is provided.
Home Farm sits in the picturesque village of Starbotton, where The Fox & Hounds Inn offers home cooked food and a welcoming drink after a day exploring. Beautiful walks begin almost from the doorstep. Cross the River Wharfe to join the Dales Way, follow riverside meadows towards Kettlewell or Buckden, or take on the rewarding climbs of Buckden Pike and Great Whernside.
Kettlewell is around 2 miles away and offers traditional pubs, tearooms and a village shop. Keen anglers can enjoy a day’s fishing at Kilnsey Park, while guests seeking complete relaxation can treat themselves to a spa day at Long Ashes Pure Spa near Threshfield.
Discover the cobbled charm of Grassington, famous as a filming location for All Creatures Great and Small, explore the cascades of Aysgarth Falls or visit Hawes and the Wensleydale Creamery. Bolton Abbey, Malham Cove and historic Skipton, with its medieval castle and bustling market street, also make memorable days out.
As daylight fades, return to the peace of Home Farm and look up at the spectacular skies of the Yorkshire Dales International Dark Sky Reserve, the perfect ending to a day of walking, cycling, fishing or exploring.
Please note: The historic house and grounds feature internal and external steps, uneven cobbled surfaces and three ponds. Children must be supervised at all times, particularly near the water.
