Upstairs fine that’s except for the steep stairs which we were warned about. Comfy clean beds and lovely new bathroom. Could do with chest of drawers in both bedrooms. Downstairs was a different matter. The settee and armchair were stained with greasy head marks, the throws to presumably cover these also mucky - we used a spare duvet cover over the settee and our own blanket over the chair. We left comments about this and also the lovely Persian carpet had dirty marks. Kitchen satisfactory. It would be helpful to comment about the fairly narrow parking entrance. We just managed it with an medium sized car but a 4 x 4 would not fit! Please take these comments as constructive criticism we don’t mean to be nit picking. Fortunately we had lovely weather so were out and about most of the time.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Our guests always comment on the high level of cleanliness at Hollyhocks Cottage and return time and again in the safe and secure knowledge that the demanding standards we require are maintained. We are surprised that this guest found it otherwise and can only assume that she mistook the shading on the fabric as a sign of being unclean. The furniture is high quality Multi York, renowned for its comfort and quality. One of the characteristics of this deep pile fabric is that it shows shading in the light and that in no way is related to its cleanliness.

Beautiful cottage the info in the cottage book and online needs updating the pub is no longer there its a row of cottages the other pub is quite a walk away. The refuse was not collected as info said to put in blue bin and should of said black! A pint of milk in the fridge would of been nice. Apart from that it was perfect

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We are delighted you had a perfect stay in our beautiful cottage. We have checked the information provided in the property as well as on our website. The only pub we refer to is The Railway Inn which is within a mile of Hollyhocks. The green recycling and blue waste bin are collected on Tuesdays. The Spar shop in the village is open 10 hours each day and guests generally prefer to buy fresh milk of their own choosing.
