Hillcrest House is a detached, spacious holiday property and is beautifully renovated. Set in the peaceful village of Brown Edge, a stones throw away from a gastro pub, this fabulous property boasts an open plan living area and kitchen with a host of appliances and a large central table to entertain at. The large living area has a beautiful feature woodburner and is the perfect place to get together, laugh and talk long into the night.
The property offers 5 individually designed well appointed bedrooms all with their own en-suite facilities, so no need to fight for the bathroom! The top floor has been designed to accommodate 5 guests, so ideal if you have kids in your group, as it is the perfect place for them to escape to whilst you relax downstairs. A fully functional, ground floor bedroom with en-suite shower room and kitchen area, is ideal for less mobile guests, or grandparents wanting space and independence from the rest of the party. Hillcrest House can also accommodate up to 6 pets, with pens in the garden for 3 dogs, so the whole family can come on holiday.
Brown Edge has a post office, general store and a couple of pubs. A wider range of amenities can be found 5 miles away in Hanley. The market town of Leek, which is renowned for its antique shops, is just 6 miles away. Ideally located for exploring the Staffordshire moorlands, Cheshire and the Peak District National Park, it is a great area for walking, and there are lots of attractions within easy driving distance. These include Biddulph Grange Gardens, 4 miles, the Potteries at Stoke-on-Trent, 8 miles, Trentham Gardens, 11 miles, Lyme Park House and Gardens, 16 miles, and Alton Towers Theme Park 17 miles. Shop ½ mile, pub and restaurant 100 yards.

    The upstairs toilet in attic room is broken No instructions for any of the equipment in kitchen No welcome pack with info of house and local amenities Dishwasher button broken DVD missing in living room Need itinerary in kitchen, because it’s clearly missing several vital utensils for group catering Overall lovely house, but that’s because we are adaptable!

    Unfortunately we had booked this property for two weeks because of the disabled/elderly ground floor facilities only to find they were not fit for purpose. My elderly parents could not go upstairs so were unable to use the shower facility for the whole two weeks and could only use the toilet facility after a plumber had capped off the shower half way through the first week. The owner did not seem to understand the impact this had on us and there was no apology given. The property is fine for people on a weekend let but as there are no change of sheets or towels not really fit for longer...we washed the bedding /towels as we were there unfortunately for two weeks. The two rubbish bins in the kitchen area did not have lids so we had to deal with many flys when we first got there...we managed to make makeshift lids which helped. The bedroom with bath with shower over did not have a shower slip mat to use in the bath so was to be used with care. There are no recycling facilities at this property it all had go into one very large refuse container on wheels which we wheeled out with difficulty for a Wednesday collection not Thursday as stated in house detail. The washing machine drums were well used so had sharpe metal indents which snagged clothes which we found to our cost.. We left the property cleaner than we had found it and have never experienced the response I received from the owner at any other properties I have booked with Cottages.com in the past.

    We booked Hillcrest House due to its size and the fact we could take all three of our dogs with us. We met up for my parents 40th wedding anniversary and we all loved the house. We had our first BBQ of the year thanks to the hut. We have already talked about renting it again.

    No major complaints other than the guests being concerned with the amount of Dog hair found on furniture. Nonetheless it’s a cosy convenient place to stay

    Ok cottage , beautiful kitchen, dinner and lounge but the bedrooms and bathrooms needed upgrading. Lots of fire wood and great log burner and fire pit.

    Really good value for money large holiday home, perfect for multiple families meeting up. We were five families in the house so filled it to capacity yet there still felt plenty of room. Excellent kitchen / dining facilities. Would definitely recommend to other large groups wanting to use it and we may well return in future as we were very happy with it.
