Description

Stunning Howardian Hills are the back drop for this apartment, Hovingham and the market town of Helmsley are close by.

This stone built former granary, attached to the owners’ home, has been sympathetically converted to offer first floor holiday accommodation of a very good standard, within the stunning countryside of the Howardian Hills. The beautiful, well maintained shared garden gives way to magnificent views of the countryside, whilst the private sitting-out area is the perfect place to enjoy breakfast, with freshly laid eggs provided by the owners’ resident hens. A designated AONB, between the North York Moors National Park, The Yorkshire Wolds and the Vale of York, with an abundance of walks, scenic villages and country houses. Coastal resorts and the Yorkshire Dales are within easy reach. Castle Howard, the picturesque village of Hovingham and the traditional market town of Helmsley are all close by. Nice peaceful location - certainly a retreat if your looking to get away from all life throws at you! The lay-out is very good inside and the fittings and fixtures very practical, I welcomed the opportunity to sit down at a proper dining table in the evenings, when eating in. Our dog also enjoyed the space and the hard wearing carpet that covered most of the living area. It was nice to be welcolmed by fresh flowers and biscuits and the owner, Lynn was helpful on arrival, offering to assist us with local advice. I think though a laminated 'information booklet' for visitors would be good, outlining where you can go for coffee, brunch or a loaf of bread etc, and the opening times. The biggest factor though, affecting my enjoyment was the poor flow and temperature of the hot water, both in the shower and kitchen sink. I was often waiting 5 minutes for the water to warm and even then it was tepid. I think some investment in this area would be worthwhile particularly in the colder seasons. Good central location for exploring.
