We had a very pleasant stay at High Moor Cottage. It's very spacious and quiet (other than the owner no other people around). Although the cottage is on a secluded location we made a lot of (half) day trips to several locations in the Lake District e.g. Kendal, Ambleside, Wray Castle, Wrynose and Hardknott Pass, Keswick, Cockermouth. We went even to Blackpool.

We had a very relaxing, comfortable week at High Moor, with a lovely welcome from the owners. The cottage is really cosy and spacious. Bird feeders placed outside the lounge window gave us a wonderful display of blue, great and coal tits, collared doves and a woodpecker. Our cockapoo was fascinated by it too. Nearby villages offer such things as a geological trail, dog-friendly pubs and a gem of a bakery. It’s also fairly easy to drive to Hadrian’s Wall and the Lakes. We took a train trip to Carlisle from Appleby too. We’re looking forward to going back to High Moor.
