High Fellside is situated high above the village of Ambleside, on the side of Wansfell Pike. The house enjoys panoramic views of Loughrigg, Fairfield Horseshoe and surrounding fells. A strategically placed bench perched at the top of the garden offers an even greater view across Ambleside and the stunning backdrop. Ambleside is stocked with a good selection of bars, restaurants and independent retailers, as well as plenty of seasonal attractions to suit all ages and is easily reached via a short walk down the hill. Set adjacent to Blue Hill Wood, High Fellside offers keen nature lovers the chance to see owls, bats, deer and hear the odd woodpecker.

A neutral colour scheme has been used at High Fellside to create a contemporary style. The spacious, well equipped living/dining room is a delightful room with a picture window from where you can absorb the breath-taking outlook towards Loughrigg and beyond, which is stunning whatever the weather is doing; whilst a wood burner, surrounded by comfy leather sofas, provides a focal point and a cosy, homely feel in the cooler months.

High Fellside has an enclosed, private patio area which enjoys a sunny aspect and stunning views of the fells. From here you can also hear the nearby beck as the water cascades down the fell; an ideal place for al fresco dining and barbecues. Shop, pub and restaurant 500 yards.

This cottage was perfect. Walks literally round the corner and fantastic views from the front. Beds were comfortable and the facilities good. We were there in the last two weeks with very hot weather. The front of the house was hot but the back bedrooms were deliciously cool! The climb to the house at the end of a walk was tough in the heat but worth it for the views. Would definitely come here again on a regular basis. Only improvement would be an airer that could dry clothes outside as not everything can go in the dryer. We ended up drying stuff on the chairs and table outside.

Baking trays in Kitchen needed replacing, the cooker looked a little worn and it would have been nice to have been provided with a kitchen roll and spare dustbin bag for the small kitchen bin. The garden was overgrown, appeared unloved and the patio needed refurbishment. The builders yard next to the property with the skip and vans passing by was not a highlight of the holiday! There was not room for two cars as suggested, especially as vans and trailers were struggling to pass by our two cars every working day. The en- suite downstairs bathroom floor had a dip in front of the toilet, suggesting that the floor needed some attention and there was visible signs of mould on the walls in the back bedroom.

Love this cottage and it’s quiet location, even the hilly approach! Stunning views from the balcony and indeed the living room! Our third visit to this property and will definitely return. The key safe is convenient and a superb idea making the start and end of our holiday hassle free.
