On the outskirts of the picturesque village of Newsham and tucked away on a working hill farm, you will find High Dalton Hall Cottage. This detached barn conversion commands an elevated position overlooking the breathtaking countryside of North Yorkshire and Teesdale. Lovingly converted from a rambling stone barn into a fully equipped holiday cottage, it is full of charm and character with oak beams, a wood burner set within an inglenook fireplace and comfortable furnishings and fixtures.

If you are looking to relax and unwind you have come to the right place. Arriving amidst beautiful countryside, the owner thoughtfully welcomes guests with a tray of cream tea. Looking out from the large picture windows in the living room and bedrooms onto a farm scene of sheep and cattle grazing in the fields, ducks on the pond and wonderful views across the rolling countryside, you are a world away from everyday stresses. To pamper you further, step outside and take a relaxing dip in the hot tub and take in the views of the rolling countryside beyond.

Out and about, Newsham offers the perfect location for guests wanting to explore this beautiful part of North Yorkshire. There are many public footpaths, cycle paths and bridleways that take you into magnificent, unspoilt countryside. The Yorkshire Dales National Park is within easy reach, as is the historic, Georgian market town of Richmond which offers excellent restaurants, pubs and tea shops that are perfect for a spot of lunch, afternoon tea or a lazy supper. This beautiful town is settled high above the River Swale and has panoramic views of the surrounding area. Browse the weekly market and monthly farmer’s market, which provide ample chance to enjoy some local produce and crafts.

Visit nearby Barnard Castle and the famous Bowes Museum. Other popular destinations within a 30-minute drive include Darlington, Northallerton, Leyburn, Reeth and Bedale. The cathedral city of Durham is a 40-minute drive away and offers guests the opportunity to visit some of the many attractions here including Durham Castle, Durham Cathedral and the River Wear. There is a nearby pub serving local ales and good food, and well-stocked farm stores with delicatessen and coffee shop within a 3-mile radius. Shop 3 miles, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
