The island is dominated by the 16th century Lindisfarne Castle, standing dramatically on a rocky outcrop. This island is also home to the ruins of Lindisfarne Priory, the 7th century seat of Christian learning and is where the Lindisfarne Gospels were created. The causeway closes twice a day at high tide, please consult local tides times when crossing. You are perfectly placed to explore Northumberland’s highlights, including Bamburgh Castle, boat trips from Seahouses to the Farne Islands, Alnwick, Berwick-upon-Tweed and many beautiful coastal walks. The cottage offers contemporary comfort yet retains its original charm and character. It is within walking distance of the harbour and sandy beaches.
