We - a group of 6 adults - were staying in Haugh House for a week end of July. The house had some pluses and a lot of minuses for us to experience: The pluses: Location: very nice next to the park and the River Spey. Green and quiet. Size: all rooms are of sufficient size, kitchen and dining area and living room are comfy and spacey as well. Big fridge (and it was clean, surprisingly) Ready made firewood beside the fireplace in the livingroom (however we had such a nice summer weather so we did not use it) The minuses: First impression: the coffee machine in the kitchen had a broken switch, and a used filter filter with blooming mildew in it was welcoming us - yuck! Inadequate arrival infomation: Brochure contained only the basic emergency information. User manuals for electric devices and the heating had to be searched, and have been found in the auxiliary utility room next to the kitchen; no clear information on waste management Gas oven: A manual on the gas stove was not available at all. We did not manage to find the electric gas plate ignition, so we used matches instead (which previous guests did as well obviously). Lack of cleanliness: the House was cleaned on the obvious surface - but it would have needed a general do-over (as stated also by prior guests). Stains & handmarks at the walls and doors, the bolsters on the dining table chairs were smeary and dirty (we had put them aside and did not use them) Vacuum cleaners: ther were 3 vacuum cleaners available, 2 of which were disfunctional, and the third one (a big Hoover Monster) was lacking a manual. An old rugged mop only, which could not be replaced (stuck at the broomstick) The garden was a sad mess: lawn was not cut, leaves all over, terraces dirty with bird's droppings, garden tables and chairs have obviously not been cleaned since the 2017 season The childs playroom (not used by us) was a mess as well, there was a wooden chest with broken hinges and screws peeping out, presenting risk of injury. The outside appearance of the house: cob webs all over which caught the poplar cotton so that the house looked a bit scary, roof gutter obviously not cleaned out since last year Toilet at the ground floor needed always a second flush when toilet paper was in. Summary: Haugh House surely was a fantastic place once when it was made up (this is reflected also by earlier feedbacks and references), but today due to lack of general maintenance and general cleaning it has lost its charme. The House was good for us to be accommodated, but it did not welcome us to offer a pleasant stay. Anyway, we decided to have a great time in Aberlour and Speyside even though. Would we come ack again? Well, maybe not. Would we recommend this to others? Unlikely.

We did enjoy our stay at Haugh House but were disappointed in some aspects of the accommodation. The windows were dirty which spoiled the view of the river Spey. The chairs at the dining table had grubby covers. There were drip marks on the walls. The garden was a total mess. The whole house which could have been very nice needs a going over. Also one of the beds was broken and some of the curtains were hanging off. The house needs some TLC to be worth the price I paid for 3 nights.

Haugh House is a beautiful property in a beautiful location. However, it is "well worn" and in dire need of a spring clean, some TLC and lots of general maintenance. Watch out for the hot water it's scalding. No oven gloves. No companion set for the wood burner.

8 of us, 4 couples, stayed at Haugh House and we all loved it. It's comfortable, warm and well equipped. The location is great, right on the river for lovely walks; close to the great Mash Tunn pub. Aberlour is small but has everything you need- nice hotels, gift shops, pub, restaurant, coop. Close to lots of major distilleries. Would definitely go back to the area and of course stay here again.
