Anne Hathaway’s cottage is only 200 yards from this pretty cottage, with beams, inglenook fireplace and four poster bed.

A famously historic location! This very pretty listed cottage is only 200 yards from Anne Hathaway’s beautiful and famous cottage. It is of similar style and period, much smaller and one of a group. Lovely little cottage, full of character and history, and very well placed and equipped. Not really ideal for the elderly or unsteady though, because the bedroom floor is extremely uneven & the bathroom is downstairs, via a twisted staircase, so night-time trips to the loo are difficult & precarious.

Had Avery nice comfortable relaxing place to stay for four days. Hot water tap does not function correctly in the kitchen, and shower above bath a little poor for this time, not a complaint but would make such an improvement for future visitors or our selfs on returning if these Two items could be improved many thanks

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your recent comments. Glad that you enjoyed Stratford-upon-Avon but we're sorry to hear that you did not like the cottage. Our cottage is old and quirky with beams, sloping ceilings and uneven floors, but it is very comfortably furnished and we love it - shame that it was not for you.

Photograph of cottage is misleading, as you are in fact getting the small cottage behind the door in corner. The rest of the property you see is other cottages either side, one of which is above the kitchen, bathroon and part of the living room. Overall feeling is cottage unloved and in need of a deep clean especially living room flooring. Situated on one of the busiest roads in Stratford,as traffic constant all week. You are asked to keep dogs down stairs and off furniture, but no door or stairgate and sofas n cushions were covered in small white dog hairs. Rear living space window is frosted with bars outside making it impossible to open them as there's a garden directly behind it which belongs to another cottage. Be aware you will hear everything they do out there.

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your feedback – the contents of which are noted. We are sorry that you did not enjoy your stay but we have been welcoming guests to our lovely thatched cottage for many years and are surprised at this out of character review. The cottage is grade II listed and forms part of a17th century cluster of traditional timber framed buildings, which nestle together in an informal layout. The Hamlet was once a settlement of rural farm cottages and now forms part of the Shottery Conservation Area with Anne Hathaway’s Cottage just a short stroll away along Cottage Lane. Our cottage is set well back from Cottage Lane with its own front facing courtyard garden affronting an attractive private resident car parking area. The property is popular and well loved by our guests, a number of whom have made many return visits. Care is always taken to prepare the cottage before the arrival of our visitors to try to ensure that the cottage is bright, clean and welcoming.

Stayed here quite a few times. Love Shakespeare country and this charming thatched cottage places us at the heart of it. Have recommended it to others who have then stayed here and feel the same.
