Description

Enjoy the spectacular views over the harbour from this delightful property which nestles close to the heart of the historic town of Castletown.

Harbour View lies close to the heart of the historic town of Castletown, on the site of the old Castletown Brewery. There is a spectacular view over the harbour and to South Barrule in the distance. The harbour area is dominated by the magnificent 13th-century Castle Rushen with its impressive fortress, which was once home to the Kings and Lords of Mann. The heart of historic Castletown is just a 2-minute walk away with all the facilities you would need, as well as four Manx National Heritage venues, and the fascinating story of ‘Peggy’, an 18th-century armed yacht, which can be found in the Nautical Museum. The beach is just 5 minutes away with some glorious coastal footpaths to follow. The railway station is just 5 minutes away with summer services to Douglas and Port Erin, and all stations in-between, and the bus stops outside the door. After a hard day of enjoying yourself you can sit back and relax or visit one of the Castletown pubs and restaurants. Harbour View is the ideal escape and perfect base to explore the rest of the island. Shop, pub and restaurant 350 yards.

Lovely views of the harbour. Car parking was on the road outside which was fine as not too busy a road. The bedrooms were clean and really comfy beds. Complimentary toiletries in the bathroom. The only thing that let the accommodation down were the first impressions of the dirty looking cream leather settees but we found some covers to lay over them, which made them look more inviting. Kitchen was well equipped. We would stay again, overall a good base to explore the island. We walked into town a lot, and to the train station.

When we first arrived there was a slight mix up in dates so the cottage wasn’t ready for our arrival. Saying this, it’s better when there is something going wrong because then you can truly review it. We contacted the owner and he sorted things straight away. He got the cleaner straight round to sort it for our first night, then she came back the following day to finish off. Both were so friendly and apologetic. The owner even made a personal visit with a gift as an apology which we thought was very kind! Given the time of year (TT period) you can imagine how busy it’s been for them so a slight mix up of dates was nothing to worry about. The cottage itself is lovely, has everything you need for your stay. The beds are comfortable, lovely views into the harbour, bus stops right outside if needed. The sofas aren’t the most comfortable but Castletown is such a beautiful place there’s no reason you should be sat in the cottage for long. There’s so much to see! It doesn’t take long to get into Douglas from the cottage either, but there’s plenty amenities in Castletown anyway. We loved the area so much we even considered buying the house a few doors down that’s currently up for sale! Such a beautiful island.

we had a lovely time. The house was clean and comfortable. It was a little difficult with the dog as it was open plan but that was o.k. after re-arranging the furniture at night. The area was very pretty but the shops and cafes closed early evening. The lads enjoyed the racing and got good views of the bikes. All in all a good week.

Nice spacious place. I would recommend it for location, and comfort. Just would of liked a few more towels.

They accommodation was very comfortable and spacious. It was very well equipped with everything you could need. Unfortunately the first time we used the oven it smoked the lounge out as it had not been cleaned. We expected to be able to sit on the patio but the road was too busy and the view of the harbour was disappointing. Castletown had a good range of shops and restaurants in easy walking distance. Communication with the owner was very good and as we were arriving early evening he very kindly left us fresh milk .
