This beautiful cottage is set amongst landscaped gardens in a pretty Scottish harbour town making it ideal for couples or small families.

Situated in mature landscaped gardens, this beautiful, detached cottage, adjacent to the owners’ home, is just a short walk into the pretty harbour town of Kirkcudbright. A fabulous property with everything one requires for a home away from home trip. Andy & Kathleen are great hosts, always contactable but happy to leave you to enjoy your stay. A welcome pack of milk, tea, coffee, sugar, biscuits, and wine was very thoughtful and very much appreciated. Access to and from the property is easy and the off-road secure parking is a bonus. WiFi is excellent too, we have it at home and in this connected world it is extremely useful. In addition there is a Smart TV and Blu-ray player with a surround sound system for a great cinema like experience. A select of DVDs are available but if you have a favourite of your own bring it along, crank up the sound (detached property so no danger of upsetting the neighbours), and enjoy. One of the finest properties we have ever stayed at in many years of holiday property rentals. We will return.

We enjoyed our stay in Hameish Cottage and were made to feel very welcomed by our host Andy. The cottage is beautiful and has everything needed for your stay, the location is ideal for visits to the many varied historic sites in the area. We enjoyed taking walks into Kirkcudbright along the river walk, and visits to the museum and galleries. We had some excellent sunny days in our week which allowed us to see the scenery at its best, we would like to return to this area and the cottage.

Lovely cottage, very clean, comfortable and well equipped. However, surprisingly there wasn't a tray or oven gloves and a hairdryer wasn't provided either. The little patio is a short distance from the cottage and a tray would have been most useful. The location is lovely. It is a very pleasant area and only a 20 minute stroll into town either by the side of the road (there is a pavement) or on the tow path alongside the river. All the restaurants in town are good. We also ate in the pub and can honestly say we didn't have a bad meal at all. There are two local small supermarkets Tesco and the Coop which stay open until 10pm so supplies can still be obtained if arriving late. It's a good area for touring and there are some lovely walks. On the whole a good holiday.

Response on behalf of the owner; We're pleased that you enjoyed your break with us at Hameish Cottage and that the weather was kind. With regard to your comments, a tray is provided in the cottage it accommodates the coffee etc., and where we leave the cottage keys in the kitchen. The oven glove is in kept in the drawer under the oven. I'm sorry that this didn't come up when I called to check in with you as we could have made your stay more comfortable. We don't routinely provide a hairdryer, but we do keep a spare for those who travel without one, but we will give consideration to providing one in light of your comments. It would be good to see you again to see how we could improve your experience.

Good comfortable cottage in a good part of Kirkcudbright. Have no hesitation in recommending this accommodation. Fittings and fixtures are new or almost new and the cottage is well equipped. I am sure that anyone staying there will not be disappointed.
