Description

This beautiful cottage is set amongst landscaped gardens in a pretty Scottish harbour town making it ideal for couples or small families.

Situated in mature landscaped gardens, this beautiful, detached cottage, adjacent to the owners’ home, is just a short walk into the pretty harbour town of Kirkcudbright. Locally known as the artists town, Kirkcudbright offers many festivals throughout the year, including Scottish nights, classic car rallies, historic walks, a medieval fayre, a jazz festival and a spectacular Tattoo, as well as a good selection of pubs and restaurants. With a large variety of outdoor pursuits on offer, including fishing, horse riding in the Galloway Forest Park, cycling, golf and watersports, there is fun for all the family. Threave Garden and Estate, owned by the National Trust, proves to be a popular visitor attraction. Lovely cottage, very clean, comfortable and well equipped. However, surprisingly there wasn't a tray or oven gloves and a hairdryer wasn't provided either. The little patio is a short distance from the cottage and a tray would have been most useful. The location is lovely. It is a very pleasant area and only a 20 minute stroll into town either by the side of the road (there is a pavement) or on the tow path alongside the river. All the restaurants in town are good. We also ate in the pub and can honestly say we didn't have a bad meal at all. There are two local small supermarkets Tesco and the Coop which stay open until 10pm so supplies can still be obtained if arriving late. It's a good area for touring and there are some lovely walks. On the whole a good holiday.

Response on behalf of the owner; We're pleased that you enjoyed your break with us at Hameish Cottage and that the weather was kind. With regard to your comments, a tray is provided in the cottage it accommodates the coffee etc., and where we leave the cottage keys in the kitchen. The oven glove is in kept in the drawer under the oven. I'm sorry that this didn't come up when I called to check in with you as we could have made your stay more comfortable. We don't routinely provide a hairdryer, but we do keep a spare for those who travel without one, but we will give consideration to providing one in light of your comments. It would be good to see you again to see how we could improve your experience.

Good comfortable cottage in a good part of Kirkcudbright. Have no hesitation in recommending this accommodation. Fittings and fixtures are new or almost new and the cottage is well equipped. I am sure that anyone staying there will not be disappointed.

Hameish Cottage is wonderful, comfortable, warm and tastefully decorated and furnished. It has everything that we needed and more beside. Everything worked well and we made good use of the DVDs and books provided. Kirkcudbright is a lovely small town and great to wander round and explore. We would thoroughly recommend a stay at Hameish. You will get a warm welcome from Andy who is the perfect host.
