Excellent cottage, spotlessly clean and beautifully equipped. It looked as if everything was brand new. The town of Kircudbright is charming, quiet, very easy to park, and has a wonderful fish and chip shop on the harbour. Perfect for a quiet stay.

If you're looking to stay in the general area look no further this a real gem and credit to the owners. Spotless clean, modern appliances, friendly and helpful hosts make this the ideal place to stay. Kirkcudbright is a lovely town with good facilities with plenty of places to eat and drink and the house is just a short 10 minute walk from the centre of town. There is lots to do and see in the Dumfries and Galloway area and it really is a lovely area as we discovered on our first visit to this part of Scotland, we'll definitely visit again.

A delightful cottage in a lovely setting, very well-equipped and to a high standard. Although the particulars said “a short walk from the town”, even for somebody young and energetic it would be a fast-paced minimum 20 minute walk!! Apart from that slight disappointment, we had an excellent week and the good weather was a real bonus.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thanks for your positive review and lovely comments. In relation to the stroll into town, it’s just over 1km away, and a predominantly flat walk, made more pleasant if you take the riverside route. It would be nice to welcome you back, if you come visiting the area in the near future. Andy & Kathleen.

We're just back from a four night stay and I'm happy to say that everything was absolutely perfect for the four of us. There's plenty of room in both the well equipped kitchen and lounge and the two bathrooms (one en-suite). The Wi-Fi is also good, both fast and with good coverage across the property which kept the kids happy. Hameish is located at the north end of Kirkudbright in a very quiet location with easy private parking. It is only a short walk into town where there are a good selection of local shops, places to eat and takeaways if you don't fancy cooking. In summary, a great location in itself a perfect base to explore the wider area with its stunning coast line and walks. A final thanks our host Andy who was there to meet us and make sure we knew the essentials. This was followed by contact to make sure everything was ok for us. Not at all intrusive, but there if you need him. Sounds trivial but it amazes me how some hosts don't get these basic things right. We'll definitely consider Hameish if we are back in the area in the future.

A fabulous property with everything one requires for a home away from home trip. Andy & Kathleen are great hosts, always contactable but happy to leave you to enjoy your stay. A welcome pack of milk, tea, coffee, sugar, biscuits, and wine was very thoughtful and very much appreciated. Access to and from the property is easy and the off-road secure parking is a bonus. WiFi is excellent too, we have it at home and in this connected world it is extremely useful. In addition there is a Smart TV and Blu-ray player with a surround sound system for a great cinema like experience. A select of DVDs are available but if you have a favourite of your own bring it along, crank up the sound (detached property so no danger of upsetting the neighbours), and enjoy. One of the finest properties we have ever stayed at in many years of holiday property rentals. We will return.
