Gunpowder House is just amazing. The view is incredible, with being on a hill the house overlooks beautiful open countryside and livestock. I have never witnessed so many varieties of birds and being May they were nesting in the bushes outside the windows. The house was clean and comfortable, with all the necessary equipment. Retaining its homely feel. The welcome basket was the very best we have ever had and we really enjoyed the good quality treats. The garage outside which has been converted into a games room, with a full size table tennis table provided us with lots of fun. The only detail you will need to be aware of is it is a bit of a steep garden to get suitcases into the property. It would be an idea to pack 2 small suitcases instead of 1 large one. However I would still give it 10/10. We look forward to booking Gunpowder House when we return to Yorkshire in the future, and would recommend to friends and family.Thank you

This was the most fantastic get-a-way cottage. Completely private, stunningly beautiful and well equipped. We watched the sunrise on the garden bench overlooking the hills (in Feb with blankets!). Strolled around the local area. 10-15 minutes drive to Whitby wich was so pretty. We had a fantastic stay. Comfy bed, great house. All house instructions were clear in the welcome basket we received. Would stay here again & recommend to friends. Thanks for a great little break! :) Pam.

Be prepared for some peace n quiet!! Over the moon with this find, cant rate this cottage any higher for value for money, clean, comfortable, cosy. Warm welcome with a special touch from hosts leaving a welcome basket of local goodies n wine. Short drive to coast, but beautiful surroundings and views from every window. 10 out of 10

This is the fourth visit to this cottage, but will not be going again - at this time of year the weather was snowy and getting to and from the car was difficult it is not possible to get the car very close to the house which makes loading and unloading difficult. Also on our last visit in March the DVD would not work, this time with the longer dark evenings we took some DVDs to watch, but again it would not work a DVD is advertised as being in the property (we had to cut our week short as there was no electricity for the last two days)

Cottage very clean, warm and comfortable. WiFi would improve. And an update on TV for dark nights limited channels and DVD facility would not play. Stayed at cottage before and would certainly use again.

The cottage was in an ideal location for us as it was quiet, and the local area, was very scenic. Gunpowder House was very comfortable and well equipped
