Close to Port Isaac and Camelford with the Camel Trail, Boscastle and Tintagel within easy reach. This delightful cottage is in the ideal location.

This charming Cornish holiday cottage is in the heart of this pretty hamlet of Helestone, a short drive from the town of Camelford with its shops, pubs and restaurants. It has a cosy living room with an open fire and a lovely farmhouse style kitchen kitchen/dining room with slate floors and an Aga, as well as a separate utility room. On the first floor there are two pretty bedrooms, whilst up in the open plan loft conversion there is a kingsize bedroom with a spacious, modern en-suite bathroom with a freestanding bath, double shower cubicle, toilet and wash basin. The garden is to the front of the property and has a sitting-out area which is ideal for morning coffee or al fresco dining.
The holiday cottage is close to the harbour village of Port Isaac, made famous by the TV series ‘Doc Martin’, with its selection of shops, pubs and restaurants. Also within easy reach are the coastal villages of Boscastle and Tintagel, which is the mythical home of King Arthur. Just down the coast is Padstow with its array of shops, pubs and restaurants including Rick Stein’s famous fish restaurant. Here you can take a ferry across to Rock to enjoy some of the watersports on offer. You can also cycle or walk along the Camel Trail which follows the Camel Estuary along to the market town of Wadebridge and beyond to Bodmin. Another lovely stay at Gumburnville! Very clean and tidy and close to lots of beautiful places. Loved the new loft conversion but did have lots of bumps to the head! Thank you :)

The cottage was nice enough. The aga looked welcoming but unfortunately no heat coming from it. Which was a shame as this was one of the attractions of booking. In the info folder told 'do not touch aga' as it's professionally switched on. The heating worked well, so that was good. The sofa had one good spot to sit in, if you didn't sit on the right-hand side then unfortunately you are going to find it uncomfortable. The arm-chair was just about tolerable. No issues with the wifi, all good there. The beds had really thin ikea mattresses on so when you laid on them, they did not feel much better than a plank of wood. My hip started burning straight away with the pressure. I tried to add extra padding using the single quilts as we didn't use the bunks. This didn't really help. So night-time was not a pleasure. The mattresses need replacing. Mattress toppers are not going to be enough. The front room furniture needs replacing too. I was greatful for there being a downstairs loo, that was handy. The main bedroom with the ensuite is small. You can't open the door fully to access the ensuite nor can someone get in and out of bed properly by the window. Location was ideal for Padstow and Boscastle. I enjoyed my week in the cottage, but I want a little bit more of my home comforts next time I go away.
