This was an excellent location for our family of 10 - ranging in ages from 14 to 91! The rooms were a perfect layout - just one exception from ideal was the only downstairs en-suite bedroom which is designed for disabled access but has minimal space in the actual bedroom and just two small bedside cabinets. There is a larger chest of drawers just outside the room in the living space. Kitchen facilities were quite adequate for our needs - we did a mix of eating in and out. The owners left a jug of milk, tea bags, coffee sachets and some homemade biscuits for our arrival which was welcome. The living space was quite spacious with comfortable chairs and a good TV. No WiFi - so we had to use mobile data and with O2, there was poor reception in the house - a bit upstairs in some rooms and quite good just outside the front door. We were told that Virgin is better! The only negative aspects were things you just have to put up with. You are made aware that you are next to a working farm. At this time of the year, the smell of cows was very strong outside the cottage. Also my husband and I were kept awake by the farm dogs yapping at random times and setting off the cows and sheep! It only seemed to be in our room (with the double bed) that this was a major problem (ear plugs recommended!)

Very spacious with plenty of room. The extra fridge which had been added was more than useful. Patio at the front is great for breakfast, patio at rear is great in the afternoon. Could do with more garden furniture there were 5 of us and it was a squeeze to get everyone around the table. The floorboards, see other reviews, do creak. Dogs woke a couple of the party but I slept through the barking. General consensus on the dogs was that we were staying on a farm in the middle of the countryside so some animal noise is to be expected. Location excellent for walks. Pub in village 20 minutes walk and serves excellent food with friendly staff.

Excellent property, plenty of crockery, cutlery, bedrooms and bathrooms fine. Local barking dogs a pain

The flowers and homemade biscuits were a nice touch, but we would’ve preferred a cleaner place. At first glance it looked ok but it was full of cobwebs and obvious that it had only had a quick once through between guests. The beds are not great, very squeaky like the floorboards and you can feel the springs digging in. The dishwasher needs attention as it wasn’t cleaning properly even though we rinsed everything first. Our main gripe was the dogs next door, who barked and howled all day and night keeping us awake.

we have used Grisedale Barn on 2 occasions now for a friends walking weekend get together...If you want peace and tranquility but not too far off the beaten track then this is the place...You are in walking distance to the nearest pub and within a few miles to the likes of Grassington and Linton...The Barn has an ideal bedroom layout for groups of friends i.e. mostly twin beds and even a downstairs bedroom for disabled access..There are 2 adjoining properties which sleep 6 and 8 and so for even larger groups you can book these also..We will certainly be staying there again very soon...

We all had a great family Christmas at Grisedale Barn, there were 10 of us age range 7 months to 72 years! The position is marvellous, just opposite fields for walking the dog and we were able to walk to the pub and the local Spar, although it was a bit far for the younger generation. The property was amazingly warm wiith constant hot water and the open plan seating area was cosy. The upstairs bedrooms and bathrooms were well equipped and there was plenty of storage space. It was really nice to find fresh milk and cookies on arrival and to have a decorated Christmas tree. The downstairs bedroom was a problem but we knew about that from reading previous reviews. It is small and has hanging space only on the curtain rail with 2 small cabinets which have to be situated at the end of the beds. Hoewever, there is a handy chest of drawers just outside the room. It would have ben good if the plug had fitted the sink in the bathroom! The kitchen is well equipped and we were able to store away all the Christmas goodies in the sideboard and cook Christmas dinner in the one oven. My one complaint would be that the bedding is tired, thin pillows, duvets and towels. Also a washing up bowl to fit the sink or a plug there would have been helpful. However, none of this detracted from our most enjoyable family Christmas there.

We booked Grisedale Barn for a family get together, 8 adults and two little dogs and we weren't disappointed. The property is very spacious and comfortable, within walking distance of the local supermarket and a lovely pub which served a nice meal in pleasant surroundings. We would certainly recommend it.
