Had a lovely stay this week, sorry forgot to write in the guest book before we left. A gorgeous little hut, tastefully decorated. Everything you need for cooking, sleeping and showering ( just need your own toiletries ) The hot tub is very relaxing. A great base to go exploring Cumbria and the Lakes, around 20/30 minutes to Cockermouth, 20 mins to Keswick. We ate in the local pub, Mason Arms a couple of times, good home cooked food with ingredients sourced locally at reasonable prices. Opens from 6 but closed on Wednesdays. There’s another Bistro in the village but we couldn’t use this as it was closed for them having a break away. Both are about a 15 minute walk from the hut along a country road and through the village. Beautiful scenery on your doorstep, very close to Bassenthwaite Lake, nice little spot for a walk. Waking up looking at the highland cattle is a beautiful start to the day. The welcome hamper was a lovely touch, scones were delicious. We had a nice boat trip and walk around Derwentwater, got the boat from Keswick water and off at Lodore where you can find a little waterfall and then walked round the lake through the marsh lands and woods back to starting point which took around 3/4 hours, towards the end of the walk you come across a nice cafe doing some tasty food and drinks. Beautiful place and an excellent base to explore! Will recommend and hopefully stay again.

Lovely four nights away during April 2019. The location is beautiful and the owners are lovely and couldn't be more helpful. The facilities, including the hot tub are great and we found it a perfect central location to explore surrounding areas/tourist attractions.

Storm Gareth failed to upset our stay, my birthday surprise was a joy. No hot tub due to Gareth, however we enjoyed every other aspect of the shepherds hut. All you need in a small space. Emma was very accommodating and took us to see the feeding of the family pets the superb highland cattle. We certainly recommend any couple to use this wonderful facility.q
