Green Meadow is a stunning semi-detached property dramatically perched on the banks of the River Teifi, famous for its coracle fishing for salmon (which can still be seen to this day). It is set within the small hamlet of St Dogmaels, with its beautiful, historic ruins of St Dogmaels’ medieval Tironensian Benedictine abbey. A 5-minute drive away is the golden sand of Poppit Beach, where it is pleasant to watch the waves or build sandcastles with the family.

Green Meadow has been restored to the highest standard and is bursting with original features and character. Awaken to breakfast on the private balcony, which has unobstructed views along the River Tiefi, and listen to the host of many birds that feed on the river. Alternatively, sip a glass of wine whilst watching the stars from the hot tub.

St Dogmaels is situated on the edge of the small market town of Cardigan. The local producers’ market is not to be missed, and there is a wide variety of restaurants to choose from where organic food is served, or enjoy a meal at the inn less than 50 yards away for some local, line-caught fish.

Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire can be explored from this location, and the delights of Oakwood, Folly Farm and The Blue Lagoon Water Park make for fantastic days out from Green Meadows. Keen golfers can enjoy the spectacular views over the dramatic coastline from Cardigan Golf Club. Shop 250 yards, pub 50 yards, restaurant 2 miles.

We have just had a wonderful holiday in this well-equipped, ideally located cottage. As an extended family of 9, including two children under 9, we found that this was among the best we have been to. On arrival, it was spotlessly clean and spacious, with ample supplies of hotel style toiletries, towels and instant coffee, tea bags & UHT milk (maybe a basket of samples of local produce could have been included, but that is a very minor thing). The balcony overlooks the estuary and sea, and the generously-sized hot tub (cleaned daily) was well-patronised from the oldest of our group to the youngest. The cottage is on a narrow stretch of a busy road leading to Poppit sands, but that did not detract from the overall experience. A short walk leads to St Dogmaels with its village shop, the White Hart (a friendly, local community-owned pub serving real ales and lovely, home-cooked food), chippy (Môr Ffein - outstanding food, including lobster), and the flour mill & bakery, Abbey ruins, shop and cafe. A few hundred yards in the other direction is the Ferry Inn with its unrivalled views of the estuary, excellent choice of drinks and tasty food. Carrying on from there (about a mile away) is Poppit Sands, with its long golden sands, rock pools and 'Crwst' cafe. The bustling town of Cardigan, with its independent shops and cafes, is around a mile and a half east of St Dogmaels. There was plenty for all of us to find to do in the immediate vicinity. We would heartily recommend this property for a family in search of a spacious, clean, well-maintained and superbly located holiday home.

Very nice large house. Plenty to do in the area, especially the beach. House well equipped. The beds a bit hard and the hot tub very exposed to neighbours houses, but overall a very nice stay.

Nice place - parking tight but relaxing - good local places to eat. A bit in view in the hot tub but good views of the estuary. What’s not to enjoy.
