This property is part of our Welcome Cottages collection

A carefully curated collection of properties that offer high quality, good value accommodation in great locations across the UK, Ireland, France and Italy

Beautifully located with many walking trails nearby to explore and attractions to discover, a perfect family holiday home.

These three delightful cottages can be found in a sleepy village, down a small country lane, on the owner’s non-working farm. As former barns, they have been sympathetically converted retaining many beautiful features such as exposed beams and exposed stone walls. Tawny Owl Barn and The Pig Sty each boast a hot tub (at cost), and for that added sense of relaxation, dressing gowns, towels and slippers are provided within the cost.
Just 10 minutes outside the Peak District National Park, the properties are surrounded by farmland and fields, with the nearby Linacre Reservoirs and woods providing many walking trails amongst a carpet of bluebells in the spring months. The surrounding area holds a whole host of attractions with the town of Chesterfield, famous for its crooked spire, just 15 minutes away. The magnificent Chatsworth House and ever popular market town of Bakewell can be reached in just 20 minutes. Matlock with its cable car, the fascinating plague village of Eyam and Hathersage famous for its links to Robin Hood and the Eyre family, are all accessible in under half an hour. Shop 2½ miles, pub and restaurant ½ mile.
Tawny Owl Barn (ref 18220), The Pig Sty (ref W44184) and The Old Cow Shed (ref UKC2608) can be booked together to accommodate up to 11 guests.

Lovely cottage with lovely owners who couldn't do enough for us. Local area nice with some nice pubs

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your nice comments both here and in the guest book, we really appreciate the feedback. Glad you enjoyed the pubs - we are working our way around them ourselves. Hope your partner is still celebrating her birthday.

We spent Christmas at the Pig Sty and the cottage is well equipped to handle a full Christmas dinner. We enjoyed our little break away with Toby our dog. The cottage was easy to get to and close to many attractions.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for taking the time to give feedback. So glad you all enjoyed Christmas in the Pigsty and were able to cook your Christmas lunch ok. Thank you for our card, as we had taken over only a few days before your arrival it meant a lot and has gone in the scrapbook. I hope that we will see you again. Karen and Mike.

We had such an amazing stay here. A beautiful setting. A five minute walk to the pub. We used the hot tub which suited perfectly after a busy day of actives in the cold autumn air. The underfloor heating was much needed and made us feel cosy. The cottage had everything you needed and was clean. It has made us realise that cottage holidays are something we want to do more often!

Loved the cottage and location, owners were very friendly. However the cottage hadn't been cleaned to the best of standards when we arrived. There was what I think was dog hair in both bathroom floors and dog hair and crumbs on sofa. There was also a layer of dust and hair over the bath And taps/plug holes hadn't been cleaned properly in both bathrooms. The cottage had everything we needed except oven gloves, which I know had been mentioned several times in people reviews. The local village was lovely and we didn't have to drive more than half an hour to see all the sites we wanted.

Lovely little cottage for a romantic break away but was disappointed the hot tub was only available at an extra cost, and quite expensive too.

Had a lovely weekend stay at the Pig sty, couldn’t fault any of our stay. The owners are warm and welcoming and any query you have they solve with no problem. The local area was lovely with the pubs nearby and lots to do in surrounding areas. Being able to have the dog stay too was a bonus! Would recommend this to anyone!

The Pig Sty is a great cottage in a really quiet environment. When we were there the weather was hot and so was the cottage, this is to be expected of a (converted) old farm building.

The Pig Sty is a lovely well equipped cottage ideal for a family. The owner was very friendly and sorted out a problem with the hot tub very quickly. The village of Cutthorpe is lovely, 2 very nice pubs with great beer gardens which were children and dog friendly. A great location with Bakewell, Matlock, Chatsworth and the Monsall trail within a 30 to 40 minute drive. We had a great time and would definitely return.

We had a lovely relaxing break at the Pig Sty. Beautiful views, lovely walks and lovely private garden with luxurious hot tub! Pubs only a walk away and very short drive to some great walks in the Peak District. Owners very friendly on arrival and even gave us a complimentary bottle of wine as it was our anniversary. We would love to come again.

Brilliant short break. Everything we needed and had a very good stay. Only thing was to criticise is the two single beds in the second bedroom. Very creaky and noisy. My husband and I were in there with our son who's 1 and whenever we rolled over we woke him up. Hot tub was lovely and the weather was super kind to us but £80 for the use of it was a little steep in comparison to other places we have stayed where we have always paid a max of £50. These two things aside we will definitely be back. Thank you.
