Description

Enjoy cosy accommodation in this 200 year old cottage where the whole family, including your four-legged friend, can discover the delights of the Eden Valley.

Set in the centre of Ainstable within the Eden Valley, this sweet and cosy 200 year old semi-detached cottage is ideally located for touring the unspoilt Eden Valley, the Lake District, the Pennines, the Scottish Borders and Hadrian’s Wall. The well equipped cottage has a contemporary kitchen and bathroom but retains traditional features such as an inglenook fireplace and beams in the living room. Ghyll Foot Cottage is approximately 10 miles from both historic Penrith and Carlisle where you can find castles, museums and shopping. The area is rich in history with plenty to explore. Ainstable itself has a popular bar and restaurant only a few hundred yards away. The nearby village of Armathwaite also benefits from two pubs with excellent reputations for food and drink. Armathwaite is also a stop on the famous Carlisle-Settle train journey renowned for some of the most beautiful scenery in the country. If you would rather explore those landscapes on foot though there is plenty of great walking in the area. Shop and pub 1½ miles, restaurant ¼ mile.

A very relaxing time. The cottage is well placed for visiting the lakes, Pennines and Hadrian's Wall. The walks around the local area are beautiful. It's a quick drive to both Carlisle and Penrith. We travelled from Canada and was very happy with our choice for the first week of vacation.

A warm and cosy cottage ideal for our winter break. Very well furnished and equipped. Very comfortable beds! Our two greyhounds certainly appreciated the wood burning stove. A short walk to wonderful views from the parish church.Much to see locally with many places of interest all within half an hour's drive including Penrith, Carlisle, Brampton, Hadrian's Wall and Keswick. The owner was extremely helpful ensuring we had a great time.

Just a fantastic week away. A beautiful cottage in a beautiful village. I can’t fault the cottage at all and breathtaking countryside literally on the doorstep is fabulous. A great place to stay while you explore Cumbria and the northern lakes. Will be booking again.

Ghyll Foot cottage is ideally situated for exploring the wonderfully scenic Eden valley. There are excellent opportunities for salmon, trout and grayling fishing in season, on both the Eden and Eamont. The cottage is dog friendly, there are walks from the cottage, but the best walks are along the river Eden 1.5 miles away. The cottage is very cosy with a log burner, and all the essentials are provided. The parking is a bit awkward at the door, but there is space to park opposite , and the garage is tight if you have a big SUV, but otherwise fine.
