Description

A splendid property, perfect for a romantic break, situated in the seaside resort of Bridlington Old Town.

Bridlington Old Town is a little gem tucked away in a quiet corner of the traditional seaside resort. Most people are unaware that this part of Bridlington exists as it’s away from the hustle and bustle of the seafront, yet within easy distance of all the amenities.
The Old Town has two festivals throughout the year, the summer and the winter festivals, and both give visitors the opportunity to explore the Old Town. The summer festival provides a wealth of concerts, exhibitions and events, whilst the Christmas festival provides a wonderful Dickensian feel to the Old Town, with lots of stalls, artists, performers and musicians. The Old Town also boasts some of the best restaurants in Bridlington.
Garden Cottage overlooks the village green and the Bayle Museum, a museum dedicated to the history of Bridlington and well worth a visit during your stay. The Old Town has retained most of its historical buildings, including the Priory Church, which is just at the other side of the green. Here you can try your hand at bell ringing or attend one of many musical events held throughout the year.
Just up the road you’ll find Sewerby Hall, a beautiful Georgian house set in stunning gardens, with a zoo and woodland walks. Sewerby is not the only stately home to visit, as Sledmere House and Burton Agnes Hall are just a short drive away. Bridlington is a traditional seaside resort with a large working harbour, long sandy beach and an award winning promenade. For evening entertainment the Spa Theatre has international acts, and you are assured a great evening out.
Garden Cottage is a great base to discover the east coast, as you are not far from Scarborough, Flamborough Head and Filey, and don’t forget the RSPB nature reserve at Bempton Cliffs, where you will see puffins and gannets in their natural habitat.
The medieval city of York is an hour away, where the York Minster stands proud overlooking the city. You can walk on top of the city walls, or take a leisurely river cruise or open top bus to see the sights. There is plenty to do in York, with an abundance of museums, the Railway Museum being one of the most popular.
The cottage is a quiet little retreat, ideal for couples wanting that break away with good restaurants, bars and entertainment all within walking distance. Beach 11/2 mile. Shop 400 yards, pub and restaurant 200 yards.

2 steps to entrance. All on ground floor: Living/dining room/kitchen. 1 double bedroom. Shower room with toilet.

Electric heaters, electricity, bed linen and towels included. 32" Freeview TV. DVD. Electric cooker. Wi-fi. Private courtyard with sitting-out area and furniture. Shared garden. Parking (1 car). Welcome pack. No smoking. Please note: No children.

Second time we have been to Garden Cottage. Well maintained, central location, Charlotte the owner is very helpful and welcoming. Cosy and compact, only drawback is that settee is not the most comfortable. Wi-Fi sometimes is erratic but that is possibly due to surroundings as the cottage has tall trees and the church by it so could be blocking the signal. We will certainly be booking again to go back next year.

We stayed to spend my wife's birthday weekend together. It was perfect. The only downside was a slightly uncomfortable sofa, but I'm a 'bigger' bloke and in all fairness, when visiting Bridlington the sofa shouldn't be used. There is so much to see and do. The owner gave excellent communication and is one of the best we've ever dealt with. It was nice to see Tikka and Masala through the window in the morning!

Very clean, well maintained, Charlotte was very helpful and welcoming. Wi-Fi is not that good and sometimes a bit hit and miss but that is down to the service provider. We are going back again at Easter, and will also be booking up later in the year to return in 2019.

A great place to stay, close to the historic old town and within an easy walk of the town centre. The cottage itself is cosy, well-equipped and very well maintained. This was our second visit and we'd recommend to anyone looking for a real home-from-home.

The only issue I had was that I found that the sofa was uncomfortable

The cottage was immaculately clean and very tastefully presented. It is small but fine for a couple. The nearby Old Town is worth a visit as is The Priory which is beautiful. The cottage is situated next to a walkway which is busy in the mornings and early evenings with children walking to school and the church rooms are used very well so cars come and go frequently. This really didn't bother us but it needs mentioning.

A super Cottage unfortunately a long walk from the main part of Bridlington. Cottage only let down by an overgrown bush by the gate requiring a limbo entrance whilst avoiding chicken droppings!

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner:- Thank you for choosing Garden Cottage for your holiday and taking the time to provide us with feedback. Although Garden Cottage is located a 20 minute walk from Bridlington town centre we are located in the heart of the historic old town conservation area, with its fantastic architecture, array of independent shops, eating establishments and facilities all of which within a 5 minute walk. As we are now approaching Autumn our garden is past it's summer best and will be tended to accordingly. Although our two pet chickens have access to my garden and the path leading to Garden Cottage, this area is checked and cleaned daily and the chickens have no access to Garden Cottage’s private courtyard garden.
