A beautiful cosy cottage in a lovely quiet rural village in the Lincolnshire countryside. Great pub directly opposite and loads of walks right from the village. But be aware that the garden you can see in the picture is NOT for your use. You have to get dressed and take your dog onto the adjacent field. It wasn't a huge problem but no as easy as just letting them out in the morning!

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your kind comments and we are glad you enjoyed your stay with us. We note your comment about the photo of the garden and after some thought have decided to keep it on the website as the intention was to show the outside view of the cottage for our future guests. The description does state that there are two outside patio areas for our guest’s exclusive use with photos of both, and of course there is the field behind the cottage, as well as the various walks around the village for both humans and dogs to enjoy.

Garden Cottage is a perfect cosy get away. We had everything we could possibly need for a relaxing winter week away. Arriving to milk, local plum bread, fresh eggs and chocolates made our stay even more special. Can't wait to come back!

The location of Garden Cottage is very good. It was cosy with plenty of hot water and heating, and it was very well equipped. However ,considering it is called Garden Cottage there isn't anywhere private to sit outside, if we just opened the back door the dogs would come running round and bark as we were fenced in just a few feet away. But the reason we wouldn't return is because of the owners very noisy dogs. The owners have 2 dogs of their own that are kennelled outside at night which barked a few times during the nights, i.e 0200 and 0400 which awoke us, so disturbing our sleep, then there was a relatives dog that was visiting for a few weeks that didn't seem to stop yapping during the day and some evenings. We spoke to Mr Gaunt after we'd been there for a few days about the barking, he didn't seem to feel it was a problem as it wasn't continuous for more than a few minutes at a time. Things did improve for a few nights but then on our second week we again were woken at 0400. He didn't check with us to see if things had improved. Once awake it was very difficult to get back to sleep.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner: We are sorry to read that your visit was not as you expected. As described in our listing, and shown in our photos, Garden Cottage has a private courtyard to use during your stay away from our dogs and garden as well as an outdoor area to the rear of the cottage which is fenced off from our garden. After receiving your complaint about our spaniels barking which is most unusual, we acted promptly and kept them inside at night, and having received no further complaints we assumed this had resolved the issue. Feedback from all our other guests show that we do our very best to make visits as comfortable as possible, and we have only ever had positive comments about the cottage and surrounding area being quiet and relaxing.

We have stayed in many cottages, but Garden Cottage was definitely one of the best. Well equipped, and warm and cosy for those chilly September evenings. Great to have the characterful pub so close at hand too! The "Welcome Pack" was most welcome (especially the bottle of wine to mark Diana's birthday!). Would we stay again? - Most definitely!

Response on behalf of the owner: Thank you for your lovely feedback. It was a pleasure to host you and hope to see you again soon.
