Furzewood Cottage was beautiful. The location has stunning views, and although a short climb back up from the village, it’s worth it. The owners live on site and are very welcoming and helpful, with a gorgeous dog! The cottage itself has been tastefully renovated and has everything you need, including comfortable beds! The hot tub was a great added extra. Amroth is a great base for exploring Pembrokeshire, although we also had some nice days basing ourselves from the cottage, with walks and gardens on the doorstep. Would recommend Furzewood Cottage.

Excellent welcome from owners who showed us round the cottage. The views from the property were amazing over the sea. A most enjoyable break.

We have stayed here on many occasions as a family however while the new management have updated the interior which now looks lovely they have unfortunately lost the home from home feeling the property and previous owners maintained. The board games have gone, along with the lovely Barbeque area which is still advertised as available but was too much work to be kept apparenlty. The games area which our girls spent many a happy hour playing table tennis in sheltering out of the rain has also been removed. The hot tub was out of operation for the first four days of our break. We were not informed of this until checking in when we asked about the hot tub. The hot tub had been out of operation for around three weeks prior apparently but we were told by Sophie (Management) it was over a thousand pounds to fix and too expensive and the cost would need to go on a card??. While I appreciate the repair may have been expensive, as we had paid a premium for the hot tub I didn't really want or need to hear about the costs of repair and maintenance. We would have had a very different opinion of the situation if the owners had made contact prior to our arrival as our expectations could have been managed but we couldn't help but feel that the guests are of a secondary importance when it comes to any communication. Sophie actually went out of her way to tell us on arrival that she has to travel back to her previous home area twice a month to keep up her network and keep in touch with previous connections, in short, the owners didn't feel like they were invested in the area. The place looks lovely and is very clean and warm but we as a family will not be returning and couldn't really recommend it which is a shame as we have stayed here for very many years and would have continued to return if the magic of the place had remained. Margo (management) did resolve the issue with the hot tub eventually and gave us the free use of robes and towels for three days, however, on every occasion we met, while apologising for the hot tub being inoperable, a comment about with the cost or the hot tub repairs and the fact it wasn't actually suitable for rental properties and bemoaned the state of decoration of all the properties which they had taken over from the original owners. Not the kind of discussions I feel are suitable for paying guests.

Our main reason for being unhappy with our stay is that the hot tub was broken and unusable. We consider that the owner should have rung us in advance to warn us of this yet even on our arrival we were not advised of it until we had been shown around the property. Apologies were given but the owners offer of doing something for us if we returned again to stay there was missing the point. It is very hard for us to get away and we should have had during this stay what we had been promised on the website and that was use of a hot tub which we were looking forward to and had paid for as part of this booking! Additionally, the welcoming booklet said there would be wine in the welcome pack but there was not. We asked as we were leaving why not and were told that is only for those staying 7 days. May be best to state that in the book? There is a lovely view from the cottage and it is possible to walk to the sea though the walk back is very steep and this should be mentioned in the information given. The driveway into the properties is very narrow and difficult to park in and users should be warned in advance of that in our view. We were very disappointed overall.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We have noted all your points and will look at addressing the information about our properties on our website and in our Welcome books as soon as possible. Thank you for mentioning them. We can only offer you again, our sincerest apologies for the hot tub being out of use during your weekend stay. We understand that this was disappointing for you, but the fault was only identified on your arrival day when we were doing our last checks around the property. Despite our best efforts the replacement part did not arrive in time for you to be able to fully enjoy the newly refurbished spa area.

Beautiful place to stay. It’s close enough to other places but far enough away to feel like you are away from it all. Sophia is so considerate and the cottage is a true home from home
