A truly beautiful place, ideal for a family or group of friends seeking a quiet retreat on the edge of the New Forest. The local village, Bransgore, has a number of small shops (Co-op, bakery etc) and is only 10/15 minutes walk away ... a little further is a delightful Garden Centre with the lovely Robin's Nest cafe. Owner Mike was more than helpful and the hot tub provided lovely relaxation at the end of the day. Lots of books to read, films to watch, games to play. Turn your mobiles off, leave your laptops behind and RELAX! You can also take well behaved pets - I would definitely like to come back.

We were two families holidaying together. The cottage was well equipped, in walking distance of at least two pubs - one of which we went to twice. The house was clean, welcoming and lovely to live in. It felt like a home away from home. Shame there’s no real fire but that’s the only downside 😊

Bad start with heating not working in a cold house. Owner away and several days elapsed before he could attend. Needed British Gas engineer in the end . Used hot tub once and thereafter it would not work. Owner could not fix so no further use for us. Owner mumbled something about compensation but we heard nothing more on the subject.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Upon your arrival (towards the end of a very hot summer), the ambient temperature within Four Oaks was 20 degrees. Subsequently the central heating was not on. You contacted me on the Saturday because you believed the heating wasn’t working. I arrived at midday and turned the heating on for you (the House Book indicates which button to press to turn the heating on if desired). I then stayed for over an hour and confirmed all was working well and that the room temperature was rising, but I did inform you that it might take a while to achieve the 26 degrees you requested. On the Monday evening, you called me to inform me that it still “wasn’t working”. I immediately made the call to arrange a British Gas Engineer to check the system ASAP. I arrived at 11.30 am to also meet the Engineer when he arrived. Upon my arrival, you also informed me that the Hot Tub had “stopped working”. I informed you that if we could not resolve these issues then I would of course offer some form of compensation. Upon investigation, the British Gas Engineer confirmed the heating was working fine but he did reprogram the Thermostat (upon my request) so that Four Oaks might achieve the kind of extreme temperatures you desired. I investigated the Hot Tub concern and identified that it had been turned off by hand at the main switch (it is worthy of note that none of the plethora of safety circuits had operated, it had simply been switched off by hand). I switched it back on and then stayed for the next two hours to confirm that the Tub was back up to temperature and functioning correctly. During this period, we again chatted politely and after demonstrating the working hot tub, I then departed. That evening you informed me that you felt it was now “too hot”. I requested that you turn down the thermostat to around 20 degrees and sent you an e-mail politely suggesting that you may be misinterpreting how to use it. There had been no ‘actual’ defects or concerns regarding the heating or Hot Tub during your visit. As a gesture of goodwill, compensation was offered and accepted. My team and myself shall continue to ensure that all prospective guests staying at Four Oaks continue to enjoy and appreciate all that it offers.

Foar Oaks is in an ideal location for the beach and the forest, as well as local attractions such as Beaulieu Motor Museum, Hurst Castle and day trips to the Isle of Wight. The cottage had everything that we needed and communication with the owner Mike was excellent. There was a problem with the BT box but he informed us straight away. The garden was private and well used to play games in, and the hot tub was delightful. We spent most of the week eating in the shaded outdoor sitting area which was also where we played evening games. Any issues that we had with the hot tub were again addressed immediately by Mike the owner, who told us that a new cover was on the way and apologised for the old one. Despite previous reviews my 73 year old Mum stayed in the smallest room and said that it was comfortable and fine for her. All beds were very comfy. We would recommend Four Oaks to anyone wishing to explore the area and should we be in Hampshire again we wouldn't hesitate to stay there, it was home from home.

Response on behalf of the owner: Thank you for your kind and balanced review. Myself and my team genuinely strive to make Four Oaks as homely as possible and as a consequence your comments are greatly appreciated.

Really enjoyed our week at Four Oaks. The location was perfect for walking on the New Forest and there were several good pubs nearby. The cottage was comfortable and the hot tub a great addition. Dogs enjoyed the large, well-fenced garden and teenagers had TV’s in their bedrooms. Wine and chocolates a kind gift from owner. Would love to return in future.

Four Oaks is a beautiful thatched cottage we were meet by the owner who gave us a tour of the property. the cottage is very comfortable and well equipped the luxury of relaxing ina hot tub an added bonus. The local amenities meet your every day needs. Even the weather was beyond excellent. The only downside for us was the cleanliness of the cottage I am assuming the owner has a cleaning company attending to the change overs. As someone who has asthma i didn't appreciate the vast amount of dust and items under the sofas and the dust on the TV unit in the main lounge and behind it. I don't consider it the height of the season and in my opinion the cottage wound benefit from a deep clean. That said I would consider it again

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner: Thank you for your kind comments Ruth. Four Oaks is indeed a beautiful, comfortable cottage in a great location. I was disappointed to hear about the dust under the sofas as the professional changeover team would normally efficiently clean through out. So, if on this occasion they’ve overlooked an aspect of the dusting I wholeheartedly apologise. My team and I also discussed the requirement to maintain our high standards. I’m pleased and relieved to read that you would still consider Four Oaks again for a return visit.
