Description

This former barn provides upside down living accommodation in a beautiful area of the Cotswolds, close to Cirencester and Cheltenham.

Flowers Barn is a beautifully converted detached Cotswold stone barn, still boasting many original features throughout. Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, between Duntisbourne Riuse and Duntisbourne Leer. The name is taken from the River Dunt which flows through the village, and also from monks at the Abbey of Gloucester who controlled the area in the 13th century. Flowers Barn is adjacent to the owners’ working farm and occupies a beautiful countryside setting.
Built mainly in the time of Charles II, Flowers Barn was once home to aspiring writer and farm owner Eliza in the early 18th century. Eliza came to inherit 420-acres of land off her father, rather than one of her four brothers, and dedicated her life to the farm. She was a very bright and keen horsewoman, who was the first in the area to own a bicycle and a gas cooker. Eliza worked on the farm up until her death in 1901.
This is a perfect place to stay when in the Cotswolds, being just a 10-minute drive from Roman Cirencester and 20 minutes’ drive from Cheltenham and its famous horse racing festival in March each year. There are plenty of walks and cycle routes for active guests, and this is a very central position from which to visit the many beautiful towns and villages of the Cotswolds, including Bourton-on-the-Water, Bibury, Burford, Stow-on-the-Wold and Chipping Campden. Both Oxford and Stratford-upon-Avon are also a convenient drive away.
The accommodation provides upside down living with the bedrooms and bathroom on the ground floor and the living room and kitchen on the first floor. Outside there is a well-kept front garden with seating area and garden furniture. There is a driveway offering off road parking and a bike store can be made available should guests wish to bring their own bikes to leave the car behind and explore the area. A purpose-built dog kennel, with a run, is available if dogs get wet and dirty. Shop 4 miles, pub and restaurant 3 miles.

Excellent place, very beautiful, very well kept and maintained, lovely hosts. Only (minor) minus is the slightly remote location, but then again you get a lot of peace and quiet, which is also great. Highly recommended!

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your feed back. I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay in Flowers Barn. We are in a peaceful spot but the busy market town of Cirencester is only 5 miles away. We hope you will visit us again when you need some quiet relaxation.

An outstanding location for an exceptional quality barn conversion. We had 5 days with family and friends celebrating a 60th birthday. With people of all ages under one roof this barn was large enough for us to have our own space which was excellent. We would like to thank the fabulous hospitality from the owners too.

A lovely converted barn, with lots of original features. The living rooms and bedrooms were very comfortable. The kitchen was very well equipped, and easy to use. The only downside was the bathroom which, being directly opposite the front door, was very cold during the bitter weather we experienced. We're sure it would be fine in the summer! We were made very welcome, and the extras were a nice touch. For us, it was quiet and ideally situated. Close to main routes, but in lovely peaceful and scenic countryside, with plenty of local walks. A great place to stay.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your comments. I acknowledge the issue of the front door and I have asked Toby to put a draft excluder in. I’m so glad you were happy with the rest of the Barn and we hope to see you again.

unfortunately we could only stay one night out of the 7 we booked, because my husband became ill and we had to leave , so we didn't get to sample all the delights of the barn and the surroundings, however our first impressions were that it was a stunning location , the barn was immaculate and beautifully equipped a credit to the owners !.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your lovely comments about the Barn. I do hope David is now feeling better. You left a nice bottle of wine in the kitchen which I will keep for you hoping you will return soon. Sacha would love the walks around the area. Best Wishes.
