We had a wonderful time at the cottage, Ruth was lovely and very welcoming. The welcome package was so thoughtful after such a long drive. The garden is lovely and the views are great. We went for some lovely walks all just on the doorstep. Great location we loved it.

We had a lovely visit to Barley and the surrounding area. The bungalow was warm and comfortable and the owner provided a splendid welcome package which included some treats as well as essentials. The shower was hot and powerful and we were amply provided with towels. The beds were of an excellent quality - no bounce when turning over. The cupboards were filled with lots of home comforts and fresh flowers were provided. The bungalow is in the heart of the village and close to two pubs which provide meals and a children's play park. There are many lovely walks within easy reach of the bungalow.

Our third visit to Fairfield, cannot fault it in any way - really generous welcome pack of goodies, spotlessly clean. In a great location with fabulous views and walks from the door. We will be back!

Fantastic property in a beautiful location. Property is far more spacious than appears on the photos. Owners left lots of goodies to start us off. There was nothing we needed for whilst staying here. Lovely walks nearby and the kids loved the playground at the end of the driveway. Nice pubs within walking distance. Would definitely return.

This was a magnificent surprise in the making! We booked this cottage for the Bonfire night weekend- purely to escape the noise as our dog is terrified of the noise of fireworks, so we wanted "somewhere out in the sticks" for the quiet. The first bonus was that my brother, on discovering we were going away to this, asked if he could come along too as their dog is exactly the same and they had had the same idea. As the property advertised for only one dog I approached Cottages.com who were good enough to approach the owner to ask if they would on this occasion allow two dogs?? And indeed the lovely owner approved this after we assured her as to the type and behaviour of our dogs. So it was that we departed- not really expecting too much tbh- but on arrival ..wow were we pleased or what! The photos just do not do it any justice- nor is enough made of its elevated "prime" position in the village. It stands out proud to overlook a most wonderfu chocolate box village in a serene environment. A brook runs along the very bottom of the garden, alongside which is a made up path which travels along the water for a fair walk and is beautifully scenic. There is a pub based pretty much at the end of the drive- which I had reservations about at first, but we had absolutely no noise or inconvenience from it at all. In fact myself and bro ventured in there to see what it was like. OMG! Surprise #2! It was our perfect ideal of a country pub- roaring log fire, amazing food-even better beer, and just incredibly friendly staff and customers in there. Cannot recommend it enough. (not so much the pub over the road mind-but I guess its a question of personal taste eh?) Anyway, to the property itself. Wow, MUCH bigger than we expected, and the piece de resistance is the large conservatory at the front which looks down to the village below. How joyous to sit in there- even in the evenings when the lights came on. Only slight problem was that the radiator in there wasnt working but it didnt affect us too much as we were blessed with unusually gorgeous weather while we were there. Mentioned it to the owner who popped round to try and bleed it, but it seemed blocked so he was going to sort it after we left. As I said, it wasnt a big issue for us at all... The rear and side of the property are just fields so there was an abundance of that rural feel..and of course, the quiet that went with it. Such BIG gardens too! Dogs just loved it- and was secure all the way round. The cleanliness of the property was just A1, smelled nice, and was fitted out perfectly. I was conscious that when we had used the logs up on the lovely woodburner, that any further logs must be paid for and contacted Mark to ask how it should be paid etc (the log store is open and outside at the back) as there were no instructions regarding further use... I was amazed that he said there was no charge..use more if you need! We left a donation to cover anyway as this generosity is something i havent encountered before. There is a wonderful modern feel to the place, such fine contemporary fitments..luxurious even. The kitchen is kitted out to the max in terms of crockery, cutlery, and cooking equipment..which was fabulous as we love to cook well when on holiday especially. This cottage fell short on no aspects at all for me...perfect location, perfect size, fitments, comfy beds...just everything was amazing- and we feel most honoured and lucky to have been their guests for the week. We shall without fail return here as it is one of the very best we have rented (and we have done quite a few I assure you) and in fact I hesitate only to publicise just how good it is for fear of it becoming too popular and us not being able to get in again! lol. I am not one at the end of a holiday to feel much in the way of sadness to be leaving....but for this one I just didnt want to go home!! Thanks SO much Ruth and Mark for letting us have this pearl of a cottage..and for sure we are looking forward to seeing you again very soon XX
