Description

Within easy access of both Berwick and Alnwick, this pet-friendly bungalow is also close to the Farne Islands for nature lovers.

Within easy access of the Northumberland coast, Etive Cottage is a charming, detached, single-storey holiday cottage with an enclosed garden area especially designed for pets. “Give your dogs the holiday they deserve” is the owner’s motto, and up to four well-behaved dogs are more than welcome at Etive. Set behind electric gates and with secure off-street parking, this property is located by the A1 which will take you northwards to the historic town of Berwick and beyond or southwards to historic Alnwick and its pretty neighbouring villages. Whilst the border-town of Berwick is known as ‘the last town in England’, Alnwick is famous for its ancient castles, gardens and cobbled streets. This part of the country draws visitors from around the world to savour its natural landscape and enjoy some of the many local outdoor activities available in the area. Historic locations also feature prominently as both Bamburgh Castle and Lindisfarne’s Holy Island are close by. Nature lovers will want to head out for the Farne Islands (accessible by seasonal boat-trip from the village of Seahouses) to see the colourful puffin colonies. Beach 9½ miles. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

2 steps to entrance. All on the ground floor.
Living room: With 32" Freeview TV, DVD player and CD player.
Kitchen/dining room: Galley style with electric oven, electric hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and washing machine.

The cottage is ON the A1, but once inside the cottage the road noise is minimal. The cottage is SO welcoming for dogs, the owners had thought of Everything a dog & dog owner could need. The property is safe for dogs having an enclosed garden. Our dogs were small terriers & would have found the smallest gap to 'escape', but we never had any problems. The Kitchen had just about everything you could possibly need, all in very good condition, however we did find a lack of storage space for our food. It had a large window with a wonderful view of the countryside & distant coast. You can just about see Bamburgh Castle & Holy Island with binoculars. The Lounge & 2 bedrooms were very comfy & warm . The Bathroom clean & bright & the Shower very easy to use. The owners could not have been more friendly & extremely helpful making our holiday one to remember with utmost pleasure.

Lovely bungalow but the main road spoilt it a little for us. The owners were lovely people and very helpful and kind. The accommodation was first class and immaculately clean. Our little dogs were made to feel very welcome indeed.

This place is just perfect in every way, the best cottage we have ever hired with the best hosts in a beautiful place. We couldn’t have asked for more! The welcome pack amazing! Dog friendly with not a hair or smell around.

A well equipped and comfortable cottage which is well placed to discover Northumberland. Great little pub within walking distance. The owners are very warm and welcoming, we felt like we were visiting family friends even though we had never met before.

The best ever welcome tray; the best ever supplies of everything a dog needs. Very helpful hosts, comfy well appointed cottage. You would need a car based on where this cottage is but as it is near the A1 it is very handy for getting everywhere for sightseeing. Would def recommend to friends and would use it again if staying in that area.

Lovely cottage, very dog friendly. David & Jan very helpful and the home-made bread and apple pie a delicious and unexpected extra. So many beautiful beaches for the dogs to run on and every pub we visited was dog-friendly and provided excellent food. Not a region of the country we knew or had visited before, but in all probability will be back.
