Elmcot is an ideal home for a holiday in the Lakes. Great location within a short walk of Keswick town centre, detached property, comfortable living space and spacious bedrooms, well fitted out bathrooms, great central heating, well stocked kitchen, private parking. There are a few really minor things which could be improved - a decent chopping board, oven gloves and fixing the hob extractor light. We would have no hesitation returning (young family with two children under 3, including a 7-month old baby).

Our second stay at Elmcot and, we would have to say overall, still an excellent choice for anyone wanting to stay in Keswick. Location is key for this accommodation. You're a 10-minute walk to the centre of town, but with the bonus of staying in a quiet location, with off-road parking, close to many walks. The accommodation is spacious, and the utility room is a real bonus, especially when you have a dog with you. The kitchen is well laid out and easy to use when cooking. However, we know that there is currently a 'cost of living' crisis, but we did expect a little bit more on certain fronts, especially as the accommodation price rises each year. Three toilets = one toilet roll. Seven nights stay = four dishwasher tabs (yes, would could and did was by hand, but the draining board is relatively small). Seven nights stay = one bin bag for the kitchen. Oh, and don't forget to bring your own washing powder as well. And maybe a chopping board.

We have stayed at Elmcot a number of times and love it but have to say it could do with a little bit of maintenance - Guest bedroom window doesn't open without a lot of effort; mirrored light in guest bedroom very hard to turn on/off; light over hob in kitchen still not working; oven temperatures higher than settings, very easy to burn food; While there are lovely blinds and curtains throughout, seems very strange there isn't a blind fitted to porch door, or curtain, from the hallway, in order for total privacy.
