Set in the Exe Valley and very accessible from major roads, are these four beautiful properties which all offer the perfect holiday retreat. All or part of the complex can be booked for large groups, parties or family gatherings. It would make an ideal venue for a wedding, with facilities allowing up to 130 guests to attend, by arrangement.
They each have their individual character including beams and most with wood burners. Duval Priory (ref 9985) dates back to 1086 is also Grade ll listed and enjoys its own private hot tub. Guests can also enjoy the cycle path around the grounds (from Easter 2019).
With the River Exe, Devonshire Heartland, Somerset and the North Devon coastline on your doorstep, the properties are situated in an excellent countryside location offering a good base to explore the beautiful area and are within easy driving distance of Exmoor National Park and the Devon and Somerset border.
Golf, horse riding, cycling and fishing are available locally, and clay pigeon shooting, fly fishing and river salmon fishing can be arranged locally. Take a stroll next to the river in the 30-acre grounds. Alternatively, there are many delightful, scenic countryside walks to be found nearby including the spectacular scenic coast between Minehead and Combe Martin. Tiverton, 7 miles, offers a selection of shops, restaurants and pubs as well as the famous Grand Western Canal and Bickleigh Castle.
The nearest coast with sandy beaches and family attractions including Somerset World and West Somerset scenic steam railway is at the seaside resort of Minehead. The medieval town of Dunster with its magnificent castle, deer park and mill, and the historic cathedral city of Exeter with its variety of shops, restaurants, theatres, race course and the Maritime Museum are both 20 miles away.
Delightful Bickleigh, 8 miles, has lovely thatched inns overlooking the river serving good food and local ales, the perfect location to get away from it all. Taunton, Ilfracombe, Sidmouth, Seaton and Exmouth within easy driving distance. National Trust properties within easy reach include Knightshayes Court, Powderham Castle and Castle Drogo to name a few. Brampton is 2 miles away, and sailing is available at nearby Wimbleball Lake. Shop 1½ miles, pubs 2 miles.

    This was our first visit - Very disappointed with this accomodation - appeared to want to charge extra for everything and even when fire alarm went off wanted to charge for an electrician to turn this off - will not be booking again which is a shame as book several holidays per year and have not found these issues before. House was very damp but cost of daily haeting this is not surprising

    Response on behalf of the Owner; Unfortunately, the fire alarm was accidentally knocked and if the plastic plate had been broken, the electrician would have had to be called out to replace it, this was explained to the party, and fortunately, it was found to be undamaged. Towels were also accidentally taken and had to be charged for, I did say if they could be returned then there would be no charge however, you chose not to return them. The heating is run by three boilers as it is a large house and costs are stated prior to your booking. The property does not suffer from damp, it may have been cold as a lot of doors were left open at various times. The staff that were in the party had said that they would love to return to the property in the future, as they thought it was a large well-furnished property, one of the better ones they had been to.

    We had a nice stay here. The garden was great but the internal lay out wasn't ideal as the building is very long and narrow. The bedrooms were nice though and overall it was really good value for money.
