Six families totalling 25 people had a wonderful New Year’s Eve break at Duvale Priory. The house was spacious and comfortable. We loved the wood burner in the lounge and the huge table in the kitchen. The owner was very helpful and accommodating. Highly recommended for large groups. Thank you!

What an absolutely fantastic old house Duvale Priory is. Three generations of our family met up to spend the week together and this property certainly made that a very happy week. From the moment of entering the property you just felt welcomed. To the left of the door we entered, at what I think is the back of the property, is the main lounge which is absolutely massive wirth plenty of sofas to accommodate our family when we all lkazed to watch a film together. mostly though this room was used as a games room for the children as they plugged their games into the television and away they went. Upstairs on this side of the house was used by our children who didn't have kids and we slept downstairs on this side of the house so was lovely and quiet from the moment we enterd our en-suite room untill we joined the family again. To the left was the large kitchen where we all met up for breakfast around the huge table and, off from the kitchen on the right is the large dining room where we ate if we weren't having a bbq. The friont of the Priory is actually in the back garden and it is here that we found the lovely cosy small lounge, which the younger children didn't tend to use and everyone else used for readying, chatting or watching films the younger ones would find possibly boring. Here you also find the games room which occupied most evenings for the adults, playing snooker. This side of the house also has four bedrooms which were used by our children and grandchildren. The garden area is just fantastic whith so much space for our family to spread out and youngert ones to just run. Also the bbq area is great because there is an undercover seating area for if the weather isn't fantastic. Have to say the owner is a lovely lady and very fair. One of the children damaged a bed and we expected to lose our deposit to pay for a replacement, but she assured us she would refund as much as possible, which she did the next day, charging us only a small amount for a repair rather than replacement. We also left a couple of bits behind and when we contacted her she spent time looking for them and posted to us first class. I can't say enough good about this lovely old house, everything was comfortable and for me, someone who has difficulty sleeping, once curled up in bed I was gone for the night as the bedding is of excellent quality. The only thing I would change would be the beds which, though comfortable, would be better if they were divans which could be zipped together or pushed closer for when they are to be used as double beds. There wouldn't be a need to change bedding as when you are abroad most rooms simply push two beds together and use single bedding on them. Sure the place could do with a lick of paint here and there, but it's an old house so if you are wanting ultra modern don't go here, but if you are wanting sheer comfort, peace and quiet, this is certainly the place for you.
