Dozmary View is an annex of a modern farmhouse, positioned up a long drive from the main road and with far reaching views across Bodmin Moor. Dozmary Pool and Colliford Lake are very close and the world famous smugglers haunt of Jamaica Inn, immortalised by Daphne du Maurier, is just over 1 mile away. Colliford Lake has a wonderful 8 ½ mile walk around its perimeter which also links onto many moorland trails. It is also regarded as Cornwall’s premier brown trout fishery and permits are available from the Jamaica Inn.
The property itself is at the end of a long agricultural drive and apart from the owners next door you will find yourself in wonderful isolation. There is a comfortable open plan living space and a conservatory with fabulous views over the top of the Fowey River valley. The kitchen area is well-equipped, and any budding chef will enjoy cooking up a storm. The double bedroom is a peaceful spot for a good night’s sleep after a busy day exploring the local area, with an en-suite shower room this property is perfect for a couple looking to escape to the countryside.
North Cornwall is as famous for its rugged coastline as it is for its surfing. You can hire surf boards and equipment from Polzeath, up as far as Bude and Widemouth Bay. Boscastle is the only natural harbour for 20 miles and at low tides and certain weather conditions you can find a blowhole at the mouth of the harbour. The Bodmin and Wenford Railway, the first steam operated railway in Cornwall, takes in 13 miles of countryside. Also just outside Bodmin is the Camel Valley Vineyard who have been winning awards for their home grown wine for the past 20 years. The National Trust have three properties nearby Lanhydrock House, Trerice and Carnewas. Slightly further afield is the Eden Project in St Austell. Beach 15 ½ miles.
