Perched on the lower slopes on Blencathra, famous for having six separate fell tops and one of the most impressive fells in the Lake District National Park, this cute detached lodge is a great choice for your next Cumbrian adventure. Situated on a working sheep and beef farm, this purpose-built lodge was designed with couples in mind. Its south-facing aspect means you can relax on the patio, complete with garden furniture, and soak up the sun through most of the day in privacy and seclusion.

The lodge itself has been finished to a very good standard, the ground floor is all open plan, comes well equipped and features a modern kitchen with breakfast bar and a living room with comfortable two-seater sofa and flat screen TV. Just off the living room is a small but modern bathroom with high spec shower cubicle. Upstairs is a cosy bedroom with beams and attractive furnishings. One pet is welcome at Darci’s Lodge so no need to worry about high kennel fees, just bring them along, it’s their holiday too!

The property is situated just off the A66 which is the main route between Penrith and Keswick. The nearest villages of Scales and Threlkeld, offering three great pubs/restaurants serving local cask ales and great food, are just a mile away. Directly opposite is Keswick Golf Club, so bring your clubs along if you fancy a round. Just 5 miles away is the vibrant and popular market town of Keswick which is bustling with bars, restaurants, shops, nightlife and great shopping. Keswick also has lots of great tourist attractions including The Theatre By The Lake, which offers award-winning arts and drama in an enviable position on the shores of Derwentwater. Visit The Derwent Pencil Museum, home to the world’s largest pencil, and if you fancy something slightly different, check out Puzzling Place, a museum full of mind bending optical illusions and great for all ages.

Cyclists, walkers and climbers will love the freedom of the iconic Lakeland Fells in the vicinity. The area has any number of easy-going walking routes taking in much of the picturesque scenery, however if you are looking for a bigger challenge, Keswick and Derwentwater is a great starting point for many of Wainwright’s 214 Lakeland Fells including Latrigg and Catbells. If you want even more of a challenge, try Skiddaw or Helvellyn, 3rd and 4th highest mountains in England, both within 8 miles. For a memorable and relaxing break in the Lakes, choose Darci’s Lodge for your next Cumbrian getaway. Shop 4½ miles, pub ¾ mile and restaurant 1¼ miles.
Darci’s Lodge can be booked together with Harrison’s Lodge (UK1259), Lucy’s Lodge (UK1260), Grajo Cottage (UK1284), Derwent Dale Cottage (UK1334), Brackendale (UK1335), Shepherd’s Bield (UK1349), Doddick Chase Cottage (UK1363), The Rocking Lodge (UK11517) and Danika East (UK32363) to accommodate up to 32 guests.

The cottage was lovley, it had everything you needed. The only thing I would say is it was hard to find the turn in as we arrived when it was dark.

Overall this was a lovely place to stay, location is great even thou next to a main road but to be honest you don't really hear it that much and especially at night the road is quiet. Keswick is about 9 min drive away and 4 mins in either direction are pubs to eat. Horse and Farrier was lovely but I would recommend booking (and this can be done on the website) Sadly there were some issues at the property and a couple that have not been resolved even thou mentioned by a few people. First of the lower floor is very hard and even has a ribbed affect so not that soft or comfy I would recommend bring slippers! There is no plug for the bathroom sink and part of the shower is broken, only the separate hand piece but it would have been nice if that could have been fixed into place. I personally found the bed a little too soft for me but I can be awkward when it comes to that, even premier inn beds are bad! It would have been nice to have cottage guides, like how things work, where things are, what to do when you leave etc. Apart from that had a nice stay here and would book up again.
