Perched on the lower slopes on Blencathra, famous for having six separate fell tops and one of the most impressive fells in the Lake District National Park, this cute detached lodge is a great choice for your next Cumbrian adventure. Situated on a working sheep and beef farm, this purpose-built lodge was designed with couples in mind. Its south-facing aspect means you can relax on the patio, complete with garden furniture, and soak up the sun through most of the day in privacy and seclusion.

The lodge itself has been finished to a very good standard, the ground floor is all open plan, comes well equipped and features a modern kitchen with breakfast bar and a living room with comfortable two-seater sofa and flat screen TV. Just off the living room is a small but modern bathroom with high spec shower cubicle. Upstairs is a cosy bedroom with beams and attractive furnishings. Pets are welcome at Darci’s Lodge so no need to worry about high kennel fees, just bring them along, it’s their holiday too!

The property is situated just off the A66 which is the main route between Penrith and Keswick. The nearest villages of Scales and Threlkeld, offering three great pubs/restaurants serving local cask ales and great food, are just a mile away. Directly opposite is Keswick Golf Club, so bring your clubs along if you fancy a round. Just 5 miles away is the vibrant and popular market town of Keswick which is bustling with bars, restaurants, shops, nightlife and great shopping. Keswick also has lots of great tourist attractions including The Theatre By The Lake, which offers award-winning arts and drama in an enviable position on the shores of Derwentwater. Visit The Derwent Pencil Museum, home to the world’s largest pencil, and if you fancy something slightly different, check out Puzzling Place, a museum full of mind bending optical illusions and great for all ages.

Cyclists, walkers and climbers will love the freedom of the iconic Lakeland Fells in the vicinity. The area has any number of easy-going walking routes taking in much of the picturesque scenery, however if you are looking for a bigger challenge, Keswick and Derwentwater is a great starting point for many of Wainwright’s 214 Lakeland Fells including Latrigg and Catbells. If you want even more of a challenge, try Skiddaw or Helvellyn, 3rd and 4th highest mountains in England, both within 8 miles. For a memorable and relaxing break in the Lakes, choose Darci’s Lodge for your next Cumbrian getaway. Shop 4½ miles, pub ¾ mile and restaurant 1¼ miles.
Darci’s Lodge can be booked together with Harrison’s Lodge (UK1259), Lucy’s Lodge (UK1260), Grajo Cottage (UK1284), Derwent Dale Cottage (UK1334), Brackendale (UK1335), Shepherd’s Bield (UK1349), Doddick Chase Cottage (UK1363) and The Rocking Lodge (UK11517) to accommodate up to 30 guests.

Small but quite comfortable. Quite a lot of noise from passing traffic on the A66 and getting into and out of the site cand be tricky with a lot of fast traffic. Ramp down to lodge is quite steep and can be very slippy. Stairs up to bedroom are very steep and narrow. Not easy if you have poor mobility. Showever would benefit from some operating instructions, not sure if all the functions worked. But overall not a bad little place.

Me and partner really enjoyed our 5 night stay at Darcis lodge. Lodge was very comfy and cosy and provided everything we needed. It was very clean in the lodge. You do have to drive everywere from the lodge and you can hear the lorries whizzing by on the A66 but we kind of got used to it. Hopefully we will return in the near future.

Its suitable for a nice little break only problem is you have to drive to get anywhere (which is a pain if you have 2 large dogs). The cottage itself was a decent size it didn't feel too cramped or claustrophobic. My only problem is if you want to let your dogs out for a little run around they have to be on loads because there's sheep literally 5 metres away. It would be nice if the yard was fenced so the dogs can roam relatively freely without worrying the sheep. I don't feel the location is very suitable for dogs (maybe a small breed) despite dogs being allowed. Our door handle was broken and we was locked out in rain for 10 minutes, my boyfriend had to go find someone to look at it, no one answers the number provided. Overall I would say it's a good location if you don't mind driving 10 minutes to get anywhere, have a small dog or no dog at all.
