It manages to combine character with all the contemporary conveniences including a bespoke kitchen with Belfast sink and oak surfaces, and an elegant Victorian-style bathroom with freestanding shower bath. The cottage exudes a truly luxurious ambience, ideal for those looking for a relaxing retreat and cosy nights in front of the fire after a busy day’s walking, cycling or sightseeing. There is a delightful side and rear garden with a stone patio and garden furniture, making it an ideal area for enjoying the last of the evening sun. The moors and hills form a back drop and provide more of a challenge for walkers or off road bike riding. A little further afield lies the market town of Skipton with its canal cruises, Norman castle and wide sweeping high street with a wide selection of shops, pubs and restaurants, and there is also an indoor swimming pool and a golf course. Also accessible for alternative days out are the Lake District, the Trough of Bowland and of course, all of the glorious scenery of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
The village of Malham, 7 miles, is worth a visit with amazing natural spectacles including Malham Cove, Gordale Scar and Janet’s Foss. Ilkley is 14 miles away, and is famous for its Cow and Calf Rocks up on Ilkley Moor. The town is also host to the well-known and popular Betty’s Tea Room, and there is a good selection of independent shops. A fantastic cottage - perfect for a short break, or an even longer one! Perfect location - walks on the doorstep, and loads more in every direction about 20min drive away, or a 5 minute walk to train station. There are some reviews saying it's a bit noisy...we didn't find this at all. I think unless you have super duper sensitive hearing, you would not be bothered by the road noise (hardly any cars go by, and when they do it's not loud!). There is a church nearby with a clock that chimes throughout the day and night, but you get used to it quickly and don't hear it then. Decorated beautifully - really felt like a home from home (without the mess of my actual home!) , and it was warm...even warmer once the log burner got going. Plenty of space for us and the dog and for drying wet boots. There's also a washer/dryer which was super helpful for drying wet walking clothes. I'd say the pictures don't do it justice re. size - I think it is bigger than it looks. Well equipped kitchen...although we took advantage of the farm shop in skipton and had 'posh ready meals' most nights! Thoroughly recommend - would absolutely use again if we were up that way. It was so good, our beagle did not want to leave (photo evidence uploaded!)

The most comfortable holiday let I have stayed in. Fluffy pillows and duvets; power shower and beautiful furnishings. It was home from home - the hosts really cared about the experience the renter got and it showed. Pretty village on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales with walks onto the Pennine Way straight from the door. Really recommend.

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your comments and so pleased you enjoyed your stay. Apologies for the windows .... unfortunately due to the hot weather some of the glass panels had blown, however these have now been replaced.

As others have reported the cottage is spotlessly clean and was warm and welcoming on a cool wet spring day. The bulbs and plants in the small but practical garden were just coming to life and it will look lovely in a few weeks time. Visitors are encouraged to use the rear door which leads to the utility room and downstairs loo, a real bonus as the cottage stairs to the bedrooms and bathroom are typically steep. Well decorated and furnished in a mix of the shabby chic and modern. Would benefit from a couple of small side tables. Comfortable beds with good quality towels and bed linen. In a great location and perfect for those who do not have use of a car or prefer to use public transport, with decent bus and train services within a few minutes walk. The road directly outside the cottage was surprisingly busy and a little noisy at times but is the price you pay for the convenience of having local amenities on the doorstep. A choice of eateries and a well stocked small supermarket can be found within a short walk. Nice flat riverside walks which we and our dog enjoyed. Terrible weather but a lovely break in Gargrave!

Beautiful cottage - thoughtful welcome pack including home made cake, eggs, wine. Full amenities in the kitchen - dog treats/bowls etc. The location was superb - we used the railway station to visit Skipton - we found the local pubs were very welcoming - good food. The log stove ( with a complimentary 1st fire laid + additional logs) was an added bonus. Bathroom was excellent- powerful shower!! It was a shame the pretty garden was shared access but we we were able to park outside. Lovely walks from the door including the canal walk to Skipton - our favourite place to visit Bolton Abbey was only a short distance away. The owners made us feel very welcome - we shall go back one day as we love the cottage and the area.
