This property is part of our English Country Cottages collection

An inspiring collection of properties chosen for their character, luxury and heritage, all graded 4 star and above.

Right on the edge of the bay with lovely sea views, this 18th century holiday cottage is the perfect seaside retreat for three.

Overlooking Portmellon Bay (on the coastal road), and 50 yards from a sandy beach, this restored 18th-century holiday cottage offers cosy accommodation in the heart of a traditional Cornish seaside village. It is situated on the ground and first floors of a small group of properties (below balcony in photograph) and the sea is only 5 yards away! This property is perfect for walkers, or guests looking to drive around the local area, as public transport is limited. It is less than a half-mile walk away from the fishing village of Mevagissey with its restaurants, inns, shops, fishing trips and boat hire. Ideally situated for the Eden Project near St Austell (7 miles), with the Lost Gardens of Heligan, one of Cornwall’s most popular attractions, 2 miles. Shops ½ mile, seasonal pub 50 yards.

Cosy open-plan living/dining room. Compact kitchen area. First floor: Double bedroom with additional single bed (for +1). Bathroom with over-bath shower, bidet and toilet.

We had a perfect first family holiday at Dawn Cottage, the location is beautiful, a quiet place with nice walks and only a short walk into Mevagissey. The cottage was lovely and clean and felt really cosy, it has everything you need and the nice bottle of wine left for us on arrival was an extra delight ☺️ Will definitely stay again.

Spent a lovely week here. Our second visit. It's perfect for two plus dog. You can't let the dog off until you get to the beach and even then only out of season, but it's a great spot with loads of good walks. Loved it. The cottage is perfect. Lots of thoughtful extras, even a shopping bag and fishing rod and binoculars to use. Nice shower and bathroom. There's an extra single bed in an offshoot from the main bedroom, great if you bring a third person, fall out or want to sleep in peace. Kitchen is well-equipped and fine. Living room overlooks the front, if you want privacy you need to keep the blinds shut but it's fine. Sofa not that comfy for long rainy days sat around, but it's fine for an evening. Lovely spot out of season, never stayed at peak. Parking 200yds down the road but beware of the waves! In stormy weather they crash right over the houses opposite. Wild but exciting.

Location is stunning and the cottage is full of character and charm. We went on a very cold February but the cottage was cosy and warm. Would recommend it to everyone.
