Dartmouth House dates back to 1745, great for larger groups of family or friends, Gullivers World and Woburn Safari Park nearby.

Originally owned by the Earl of Dartmouth and situated in the Georgian market town of Olney, Dartmouth House has records dating back to 1745. A spacious and comfortable, stone-built roadside property with the owners’ home close by, it can sleep up to twelve people. It has retained many of the original features - such as flagstone, wooden and quarry-tiled floors, beamed ceilings and fireplaces. The large, south-facing, stone-walled garden is enclosed, and its beautiful aspects may be enjoyed in all types of weather when dining or relaxing on the large verandah, which is attached to the house.
Olney (situated on the River Great Ouse) is one of the most sought-after destinations in North Buckinghamshire and is within easy driving distance of Northamptonshire and Bedfordshire, in an area with beautiful rolling countryside and many country and town attractions. Olney is located in the middle of England and Dartmouth House is handily set along a main road just 20 minutes from junction 14 of the M1 - making London very accessible. Olney itself has tea rooms, antique shops, boutiques and the William Cowper Museum and are all within easy walking distance of the property. A few minutes’ drive leads to Woburn Abbey, Castle Ashby and Bletchley Park. There is plenty to keep children entertained - from Gullivers World and Woburn Safari Park to the popular Whipsnade Zoo. For the more energetic, there are vast areas of outstanding walking and cycling country, including Salcey Forest and Emberton Park. Milton Keynes offers a different experience with its cinemas, excellent shopping, the Milton Keynes Theatre (the most popular theatre outside London) and a huge choice of sporting activites including the Snowdome. Shops 50 yards, pub 20 yards.

Large, beamed living room with wood-burning stove and flagstone-tiled floor. Spacious beamed dining room with original 18th-century wooden floor. Large, well-equipped kitchen with fitted units and quarry-tiled floor. One step down to utility with shower. Separate toilet. Six steps up to double bedroom with TV. First floor: Two double bedrooms, each with TV. Twin bedroom with TV and additional single. Four steps up from landing to two bathrooms with toilet, anti-slip flooring and heated towel rail; one with two wash basins. Second floor: Two double bedrooms, each with TV. Friendly and helpful owner, nice town, great pancake parlour!! Only one shower, and not twin beds in the triple room, but a single and a double... one of us had to sleep on the sofa! Still, nice garden and lovely for a get-together.

A very nice rental cottage, thoughtfully prepared. If there was any small criticism it is just that it could potentially do with an extra shower for a large group.

Dartmouth House is great for a medium/large get together, particularly for those that appreciate a lot of character in a house. Last weekend I stayed with family and friends for our annual Halloween get-away, and we had a wonderful time. All the wonky floors & creaky doors really added some spooky atmosphere. The kids loved playing hide & seek, and the 'adults' enjoyed a spot of frisbee in the huge garden & board games in the dining room. The owners had even left some Halloween goodies (for the kids?) and there were some great spooky decorations on the veranda! On previous stays (this was my fourth time staying at Dartmouth House) the owners have left wine and chocolates! A really nice touch! As well as all this, Olney is a lovely quaint town, with plenty of decent shops for anything you might need during your stay! I can't wait to come back!

A lovely property, full of character, with a beautiful garden. Very well equipped kitchen which enabled us to cook for a large group of people. Within walking distance of the small town which is very picturesque with some interesting independent shops.

We had a lovely long weekend at Dartmouth House, which is a great place for a group of friends (including some with children) to get together and catch-up. It's on a road, but it's hardly a main road like one reviewer has claimed. We hardly noticed it and it certainly didn't disturb us. Parking was easy, and we actually found it a pleasant change to stay in a property within easy walking distance of pubs, restaurants, shops and coffee shops. It meant everyone could come and go as they pleased, whether they drive or not (and the drivers could have a well-earned pint or two!) The house was welcoming, well-equipped and very comfortable, and the garden was glorious. Thank you for an excellent holiday. We'd all recommend Dartmouth House to others.
