Dartmouth House dates back to 1745, great for larger groups of family or friends, Gullivers World and Woburn Safari Park nearby.

Originally owned by the Earl of Dartmouth and situated in the Georgian market town of Olney, Dartmouth House has records dating back to 1745. A spacious and comfortable, stone-built roadside property with the owners’ home close by, it can sleep up to twelve people. It has retained many of the original features - such as flagstone, wooden and quarry-tiled floors, beamed ceilings and fireplaces. The large, south-facing, stone-walled garden is enclosed, and its beautiful aspects may be enjoyed in all types of weather when dining or relaxing on the large verandah, which is attached to the house.
Olney (situated on the River Great Ouse) is one of the most sought-after destinations in North Buckinghamshire and is within easy driving distance of Northamptonshire and Bedfordshire, in an area with beautiful rolling countryside and many country and town attractions. Olney is located in the middle of England and Dartmouth House is handily set along a main road just 20 minutes from junction 14 of the M1 - making London very accessible. Olney itself has tea rooms, antique shops, boutiques and the William Cowper Museum and are all within easy walking distance of the property. A few minutes’ drive leads to Woburn Abbey, Castle Ashby and Bletchley Park. There is plenty to keep children entertained - from Gullivers World and Woburn Safari Park to the popular Whipsnade Zoo. For the more energetic, there are vast areas of outstanding walking and cycling country, including Salcey Forest and Emberton Park. Milton Keynes offers a different experience with its cinemas, excellent shopping, the Milton Keynes Theatre (the most popular theatre outside London) and a huge choice of sporting activites including the Snowdome. Shops 50 yards, pub 20 yards.

Large, beamed living room with wood-burning stove and flagstone-tiled floor. Spacious beamed dining room with original 18th-century wooden floor. A beautiful house in such a stunning village. Dartmouth house is perfect for a large group and has all the facilities to cater for everyone. The garden is stunning and Olney as a village has lovely bars and restaurants. Milton Keynes was just twenty minutes away.

Dartmouth House is a wonderful, quirky property. You will enjoy exploring the rooms and be surprised just where they are 'hidden'. There is ample seating in the kitchen but if you want a more formal dinner then the dining room is lovely. We went in the winter but the house was lovely and warm and the log burner is a welcome addition. All the beds were comfortable in wonderfully decorated rooms. There was off road and gated parking for 4 cars and it was an east walk to the many small individual shops in Olney high street and Milton Keynes is a short drive away. The owners were very helpful from the moment we booked and had thoughtfully left wine and chocolates for us to help us settle in.

    Not a very welcoming venue.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; No holiday house enjoys getting a low score review. Our property has consistently, over the past 12 years, received 8, 9 and 10 scores , so your score of just 4 for our beautiful house is completely out of the norm and has greatly upset the servicing and gardening team that work so very hard. Your daughter collected the key from us on arrival day and she brought it back on departure and that was the only time we saw you the whole weekend. She told me you had all had a great time too as I asked her. We never ring on the holiday house doorbell and disturb guests once they are settled in as they know we are only 4 doors away if they want to ask anything or need any help as this is reiterated to the key collector on arrival day. You have been unable to state anything in your review to help me with a response so this implies you had nothing to complain about. You received a warm, clean, comfortable and well maintained house at a super, low seasoned price that dates back in history for 400 years. 60% of our guests each year are returning ones. We always spend £35 on every welcome pack for our guests but we received no word of thanks from you afterwards. Your daughter checked in before you so did you see and receive it? The only communication I had with you was when you sent in the £200 security deposit in the form of a cheque which was dated for beyond your departure date. As this cannot be accepted I contacted you by phone and you paid the deposit by credit card instead. We talked for quite some time and at the end of the call I felt like I knew you, but I still did not see you at all during your stay here.
