We had a wonderful holiday staying at Creebank. We loved the river views, our daughter loved the ducks and Gordon the goose. We found the cottage to be spotless, everything in the house is of a very high standard. We all slept so well in the comfortable beds with the lovely bedding. The kitchen was super to cook in, loads of space and everything you need and more, top quality equipment. There has been a lot of thought and time put in to the design of Creebank and we would come back again. The area is also lovely, everything a short walk away, friendly locals, we went for many drives out, a short drive away is Marrbury smokehouse and Galloway smokehouse and fresh fish shop, both have a super deli and Bistro to eat, we brought some items and they were all lovely. There is also a Gin Distillery, called Crafty Distillery, we visited them and they are well worth a visit. We also had a super meal at a place called No 4, just across the road and about a minute walk, super home cooked food, Well worth a visit.

Lovely cottage with cracking river view and good location for exploring Galloway. Newton Stewart on doorstep is handy too.

The following comments are intended as feedback on what we found to be negative aspects of the property itself. The house is situated directly opposite the Newton Stewart Police and Fire Stations and I can assure prospective visitors that when the emergency services are called you will know about it. I was disturbed early every morning by the traffic on the A road outside. Despite having a ground floor bedroom and bathroom, (the reason I booked this house) this property isn't really suitable for those of us with reduced mobility. There is a cupboard installed in the hallway, making it impossible for my mother with a walker to get passed with collapsing the support. This meant she was 'trapped' in the house when I went out for the day. Also there is no supporting rail in the bath making it tricky for even us who are fit to get out after a shower. The bath plug is broken. In the absence of a fan in this room, there is a velux window, but the opening pole is too short thereby requiring one to stand on a stool to open/close the vent. In the hallway there is a dehumidifier with instructions to leave on permanently - the noise of this machine is intolerable so we only switched on when going out for the day. The upstairs cloakroom has a cold water only supply and the toilet itself operates on a macerator unit. In the upstairs bedrooms, there is no decent mirror and plug adjacent making it difficult for us girls to do our hair! The wardrobe door wouldn't shut when clothes were hung up basically because its not deep enough.....

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your negative only feedback. We were sad to read your comments and hope prospective visitors take on board our replies also. Fire station and police station - The police station is a lock up station, it closes at 5. I can confirm through talking to the station master there were 2 call outs on your stay; they do not put on sirens until they are out of the area. I can also confirm the station did have a fault on their station alarm and it did take 3 hours until it was fixed. Creebank is a cottage meaning small house / holiday cottage, we feel it is up to the guest to read and take in any information, description published. If anyone with reduced mobility is thinking of booking, it is wise to check before booking if the cottage is suitable for their needs. The bath plug is in excellent working order, overflow cover had unhooked, and Velux pole reordered, thank you for bring this to our attention. Dehumidifier - Common sense on when to leave on and turn off is left to your own discretion. The upstairs cloak room is a convenience and not meant to be a main bathroom. There are mirrors in every bedroom and landing with plugs close to them, wardrobes are of standard size. I would say I have wooden hangers and turning them slightly before closing helps.
