Description

Situated within stunning grounds, this cottage for four guests is close to beaches at Eastbourne as well as plenty of attractions for all weathers.

Cowbeech Farm Cottage is situated in the beautiful grounds of the owner’s farmhouse on the edge of the village which bears the same name. Originally part of the old dairy and very much a working dairy farm back in the 1950s, it has its own enclosed garden off the original farmyard. The stunning farmhouse grounds have featured in the National Garden Scheme, and guests can stroll around the lake and marvel at the unusual Japanese garden. On the boundary of the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and within strolling distance of the local hostelry, which dates back to the early 1600s. A walkers and cyclists paradise, try the Cuckoo Trail, 19 miles of walkways and lanes that follows the old Cuckoo Line Railway from Heathfield to Eastbourne, and gained its name from the releasing of a cuckoo at the Heathfield Fair.
Michelham Priory, Herstmonceux Castle and its gardens, Drusillas Zoo and the Bluebell Railway are great days out, or spend a Saturday evening stargazing at Herstmonceux Science Observatory. Eastbourne with its beaches and pier is a 30-minute drive, and Battle is 8 miles with good rail connections to London. Should the weather be inclement, there is a leisure centre at Hailsham with flumes, inflatables and ten pin bowling. Beach 9 miles. Shop ¾ mile, pub and restaurant 175 yards.

Step to entrance. All on the ground floor.
Living/dining room: With wood burner, 38" Freeview TV and DVD player.
Kitchen: With electric oven, induction hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine and tiled floor.

Nice comfortable cottage, shame no dishwasher and kitchen not overly equipped, could do with a few more mugs. Nice quiet, pleasant location, handy walks for dog

Lovely cottage with stunning surroundings. I thought the kitchen could have been slightly better equiped, but other than that it has every comfort. The wood burner was great to have and use for added warmth and cosiness.

Suggest an electric power shower would be an improvement and the sofa could be raised by putting blocks underneath the feet to make it easier to get on and off for those more elderly holiday makers. The cottage suited us for our return to Sussex to visit friends as we had previously had a business in the area.

We loved this spacious and comfortable cottage and the interesting and attractive 7 acre garden. There was also a smaller garden attached to the cottage where we appreciated the table and chairs so we could eat outside. The owner, Collette, was very friendly and helpful. The cottage was well situated for visiting many of Sussex's finest attractions but would be very difficult for anyone without a car as the nearest village shop was several miles away.

The cottage was well equipped and the grounds were beautiful and our dog had a very safe area to run around off the lease. The only disappointing things were there wasn't a local shop in walking distance and the speed of some drivers on the road outside. Having said this we would certainly recommend Cowbeech Farm Cottage to friends and family if they wished to explore the surrounding areas.

A lovely well appointed cottage set in stunning grounds. Located in a quiet farm yard setting, conveniently located for the South downs, Eastbourne,Rye etc. The proprietors check that you have everything, but essentially leave you in peace to enjoy your stay. I would highly recommend a stay at this cottage and look forward to returning in the future.
