"In rich rolling acres of natural grounds – just a riverside walk from the beach and sea . . ."

Just a mile or so from the beach and picturesque harbour at Lyme Regis, this attractive cluster of individually owned holiday cottages enjoys a peaceful setting in an area of exceptional natural beauty. Skilfully converted from a range of lovely old stone barns, they are surrounded by acres of pastures with abundant wildlife, including deer and badgers. Fitted and furnished to comfortable standards throughout, each holiday cottage is independently owned and has its own sunny patio at the front with peaceful and uninterrupted views over a picturesque pond and the countryside beyond. A lovely riverside walk leads to historic Lyme Regis, passing through wonderful countryside with no roads to mar the views. The rolling farmland scenery is easily enjoyed via the 28-mile network of local footpaths and bridleways, including the World Heritage Dorset Coastal Path (½ mile) and its spectacular Jurassic coast.
Accessible within 4 minutes by car or via a walk over fields and along the riverbank, Lyme Regis is one of England’s most memorable small towns. It is famous as the setting for both the story and film of ’The French Lieutenant’s Woman, with its harbour bright with boats, streets of elegant colour-washed buildings, lofty cliffs and a great sweep of sea. Inns, restaurants and a choice of shops can be found amongst the town’s attractive jumble of narrow streets, and it is a notable water sports centre. Motor boats can be hired, and there are fishing trips, a sailing school and club, and a wind-surfing school. There is also a sports complex at Axminster (4 miles) which offers swimming and other facilities. For nature lovers, the area has some of the most diverse scenery in the country: Lyme Bay sweeps round from the National Nature Reserve on the Dowlands Cliffs in an uninterrupted arc along the huge bank of shingle that is Chesil Beach, all the way to the limestone slab of the Isle of Portland. The 626-ft Golden Cap, a breathtaking viewpoint and part of a lovely 2,000-acre NT estate, is the highest point on England’s south coast, a World Heritage Site. An easy drive to Bridport, Honiton, Sidmouth, Exeter and Dorchester. For families there are many lovely beaches close at hand, and a theme park (Crealy Park) near Exeter. Lyme Regis golf course is within ½ mile and visitors are welcome to use the golf course, or to visit their bar and restaurant. Each cottage has a comprehensive information folder giving details of local pubs, restaurants, shops, walks, excursions and many interesting facts about Lyme Regis and finding fossils along the Jurassic coast. Shops 1 mile.

Our family of 6 , including two teenagers , had a lovely week at Poirot cottage in Lyme Regis. The cottage is very comfortable and well -equipped with a terrific conservatory and patio to enjoy the wonderful views from the cottage. Lyme Regis itself is a delightful seaside town with stunning views and a great variety of restaurants and shops. The weather was terrific all week with no rain and high temperatures. We enjoyed the walks into town, around town and hunting for fossils. Instructions regarding accessing the key were easy and the information package was very useful. Communications with the owners were excellent Poirot cottage is highly recommended. We would happily stay there again

Stunning countryside views from the conservatory. Beds are very comfortable. Plenty of colourful birds to be seen, we put seed out daily and it was gone by morning. Very enjoyable stay.

We had a lovely few days in May, helped by beautiful weather. For us the cottage was perfect as it was quiet, well furnished and the views from the conservatory beautiful, it was like the rest of the world didn’t exist.

Had a lovely holiday, the cottage was very nice and clean and very well equipped, The draw back was the distance that we had to cart our luggage from the car as we had to park five cottages away from poirot cottage, and it was about another 30 yards to the recycling bins, not a big problem for the young and healthy, we are all in the late seventys and don't enjoy the best of health. I did not know about the distance between the cottage and the car park at the time of booking. after say all that the accomadation and the outlook was second to none

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; I am sorry you felt that the distance from the car park to the cottage was a long way to pull your luggage, it is a distance of about 30 metres from the parking area to the cottage, and the bins are about 18 metres from the parking area. Yes, we are on the end of a row of 5 small cottages, but this means that we enjoy amazing views and a very peaceful location. There is a well surfaced path from the parking area to the cottage so wheelie cases are no problem and it is not an issue that has ever been raised before. We strive really hard to provide a lovely cottage for our guests to enjoy, but obviously there are sometimes personal issues for guests which are unique to them. Thank you for your very positive comments about Poirot Cottage, that the accommodation and outlook were second to none.

We enjoyed 5 days at Poirot Cottage, everything you might need has been thought of. The beds are comfy and it's very quite, just the birds and sheep. The on suite has a nice power shower for when you wake up in the morning. The views from the conservatory are beautiful. If you are bird lovers take seed with you, you will be rewarded by the variety and numbers of birds you will see. If it's a clear night do take time to look up at the stars, there is very little light pollution. If you want to relax and unwind this is the place to be.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your lovely feedback. We think Poirot is a little slice of heaven, but its always nice when guests feel that too.

A lovely cottage, very close to Lyme Regis. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage is very well equipped and the conservatory is a great room to enjoy views over the valley and hills, whatever the weather.
