Private outdoor heated swimming pool, and hot tub, ideal for walking or cycling with the Tarka Trail only 2 minutes walk away.

This impressive, detached late Victorian merchant’s house enjoys a delightful outlook across the River Torridge to the pretty port town of Bideford with its pastel-coloured houses alongside a tree-lined quay. The house has been completely refurbished in a light and airy contemporary style whilst retaining much of its original charm and character. Equipped to a very high standard and arranged over three floors, there is plenty of space for family and friends to gather, but also to escape to a quiet corner. Pretty gardens surround the holiday property and offer plenty of space for al fresco dining, summer barbecues and for the children to let off steam. The panoramic views from the living areas and many of the bedrooms are breathtaking, and with a fenced 18ft 6in outdoor heated swimming pool, York stone patio with mood lighting, fire pit and teak furniture, hot tub and sheer indulgence of the cinema room with 50in plasma TV, HD projector and 84in screen, surround sound, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PS3, together with two satellite boxes, it will be hard to leave this unique property.
On the doorstep there is plenty to see and do with the famous Tarka Trail 2 minutes’ walk away for walking or cycling. Alternatively, meander around the many delightful shops, pubs and restaurants that Bideford has to offer, with its regular pannier and waterfront markets, all within a 10-minute stroll of the property.
Visitors can take a boat trip to the nature reserve at Lundy Island or explore many pretty fishing villages including nearby Clovelly and Appledore. Instow is just 2 miles away and is a pretty, unspoilt seaside village with large stretches of sandy beaches and dunes, fishermen’s cottages, shops and a good selection of pubs and restaurants specialising in locally caught seafood. The wide, golden sandy beach of Westward Ho!, popular with surfers, is just 3 miles away with Saunton, Croyde and Woolacombe a short drive across the Taw Estuary.
There are numerous NT properties in the area including Arlington and Hartland Abbey, as well as the RHS gardens at Rosemoor and Docton Mill. Hartland Quay and Lighthouse are well worth a visit and for family fun, the Big Sheep and the Milky Way Adventure Parks are close by. Golf, riding, fishing, surfing, mountain boarding, karting and high ropes are available locally and the wild beauty of Dartmoor, Exmoor and Bodmin moors are all within easy driving distance, as is the famous Eden Project. With so much to discover in this lovely part of North Devon, this is the perfect holiday choice. Shops ¼ mile, pubs 300 yards.

We loved Copperfield. One of the best, if not the best, holiday homes we've stayed in over our 17 years of staying in big houses around the UK at October half term! The house is cosy whilst being airy and light, and traditional but with all the facilities and gadgetry you could wish for! And the view over the estuary to Bideford was great. We were a group which included teenagers - the hot tub and cinema room went down well with them. The location was ideal. Plenty to do without getting in the car - the Tarka trail was well used by our group - but also lots of beaches and villages to visit a short drive away. We highly recommend a stay at Copperfield.

The house was perfect for our large family . We all had space to ourselves and lots of family space too. The cinema room with large screen , play stations and sky were all well used . The toddler with us had plenty of room to run around safely with stair gates on every landing . Everyone felt comfortable and relaxed as the week went on. All the available equipment was of a high standard and the owner was very approachable if there were any issues . ( although we didn’t need to actually contact her ) . Everyone left feeling they had enjoyed the week together leaving us with lots of happy memories .

We’re a group of ten friends, who go for a long weekend away together every year. I have to say that this is absolutely the best house we’ve ever stayed in! The owner Janet was lovely and friendly, providing lots of useful information in advance, tailored to our needs. David and the team had done a fab job with the cleaning, the place was spotless. The house itself is spacious and welcoming, and the little touches such as speakers, Amazon Echos and phone chargers in every room was brilliant. The boys loved the cinema room for chilling out watching football and films, and the girls made the most of the hot tub! Couldn’t recommend Copperfield highly enough- thank-you for having us!

Absolutely wonderful - you couldn't wish for anymore. Visited as a family occasion and there was something for everyone from teenagers to pensioners. All amenities within walking distance - only downfall was the hill back up to the house. Short drive to a lovely beach where you can take your dogs.

We all had a great time in this spacious cottage. Everything we needed was catered for. The children loved the swimming pool. A lovely place to spend a family celebration.

Copperfield is ideally located with excellent view of Bideford, very accessible for the town, comfortable with the owners having provided all conceivable amenity that you may require. The prominent period house is very well maintained and adapted for modern living and ideal for a large party of people with more than ample space as not to be on top of one another. The gardens are well maintained making a very pleasant stay and full credit to the owners. It goes without saying we had a great pleasant stay, Thank You.
