Great location to get everywhere. Cottage was ok, However it was very dated and dusty but overall it was good value for money. Towels that were provided were hand towels, so I would suggest taking your own. Had requested a cot and high chair which wasn’t there when we arrived, however this was resolved promptly by the cottage owner so did not cause too much of an inconvenience. All in all it was a good base and I would recommend it for the location.

Combe Cairn is well equipped and comfortable. There's plenty of space, good WiFi and a wide range of viewing on the Smart TV. Although parking in the area is somewhat limited, Combe Cairn has a decent sized private car park at the rear of the property - so you can leave the car right outside the back door. The terrace is somewhat bijou but its south facing and catches the sun (even though it was March when I stayed there - so not extensively used). The owner provided a bottle of wine and chocolates on arrival - much appreciated. The property is right in the town but you can actually see Black Combe from the bedroom window. Although its not a scenically stunning location - it is convenient with easy walking access locally to Haverigg (the lagoon) - a short drive to Silecroft with its excellent beach and of course the southern fells of Lakeland (much less visited than further north with delightful, quiet fell walking - particularly in the Duddon Valley). I would certainly use Combe Cairn again.
