Superbly redesigned, this large, detached and elegant farmhouse dating from the 17th century is perfect for quality time with family and friends. Colveston Manor offers oodles of space inside and out. With its beautifully large, enclosed, south-facing garden the manor enjoys an idyllic position on a working sheep and cattle farm. Sitting at the end of a long tree-lined drive, with majestic oak trees, surrounded by grazing meadows, open farmland and ancient woods where wild deer roam, typical of the Brecks, this character filled country home is perfect for exploring the many delights of Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.
From your doorstep there are meadows, fields and woodland for great walks, cycle routes and nature trails. Close by lies the 47,000 acres of Thetford Forest with High Lodge recreational site and, for adrenaline-junkies, there’s the Go Ape tree-top adventure. City lovers can explore the medieval city of Norwich with its imposing Norman castle; Kings Lynn and its fascinating Hanseatic Quarter; Ely with its magnificent cathedral the ’Ship of the Fens’; the university city of Cambridge and Bury St Edmunds with its famous abbey.
Coast lovers can be at the spectacular North Norfolk coast in less than an hour. Here you will find lots of pretty coastal villages and towns with wide sandy or shingle beaches, bustling quays and wild marshes all waiting to be explored, and where you can enjoy delicious food and drink. Wildlife watchers can take their pick. At Colveston, catch the barn owl hunt and the wild deer at dusk; there’s the coastal collection of birding sites at Titchwell or Cley Marshes and inland there are the fabulous gatherings of wetland birds of Welney or the nightingales of nearby Foulden Common.
Year round there are activities and attractions for all ages nearby including Gooderstone Water Gardens, National Trust Oxburgh Hall, Stowe Farm and Neolithic Grimes Graves flint mine in the heart of King’s forest. Take to two wheels on the Norfolk Cycle Way with lots of routes and quiet roads. With so much to explore in every direction, you will be spoilt for choice what to do, before returning back home for a relaxing evening in the garden or by the wood burner and a good night’s sleep. Shop, pub and restaurant 2¼ miles.
