We really enjoyed our sttay at Cockleshell Cottage. Lovely warm welcome was given to us. We were left cheese straws, shortbread biscuits, two small bars of chocolate and a bottle of wine. The location is really nicce. Close to the beach, and overlooking the river that runs down to the beach. The local people we met were very friendly too. The cottage was well stocked with equipment and supplies (even tea coffee and sugar, though we brought our own). There were essential cleaning supplies available and the use of the washing machine if we needed it. The wifi signal was good too. The weather was pretty good for the time of year, with only one very rainy day. We managed a good walk in Grizedale, went to Ambleside, and Eskdale Valley (the railway, La, lal Ratty) was gorgeous. Downsides - one of the single beds down stairs is a bit creaky. The upstairs bedroom is lovely (it might benefit from a dehumidifier). The recycling was tricky. We had no room at all in the recycling containers/bins that seem to be shared with no. 38. We then had to offload the recycling down the road by the lifeboat centre, the containers there were also extremely full. I doubt the owners can do much about this as it is a local council issue. There is only one shop in Haverigg, a Londis, which is handy for bits and pieces, but if you plan to self cater, we suggest that you shop at a cheaper larger supermarket before arriving. Overall, we all enjoyed our stay and would come again.

We had a fantastic time, the location is brilliant, beautiful views, great chippy. The cottage is really well equipped and comfortable. Lots to do close by, a brilliant base for exploring Western Lakes.
