More crockery and glasses would make the use of the dishwasher a more valuable asset

The photos are a bit deceptive, this small standalone building faces a front driveway and our first impression was that it's not really that dog friendly. There is no garden access, the driveway opens onto a quiet(ish) B road, which is pretty fast and on a blind bend. So don't expect anywhere secure to let your dogs off to go to the toilet (So I found myself in my pyjamas late at night and early in the morning taking them out to the loo, which is annoying). The self contained building is open plan for kitchen / diner / living space. The sofa and living room furniture was all nice, well decorated and pretty / country style. Only complain is the kitchen was outdated and not in top condition, with shelves missing in the cupboards and a dirty old rusty hob top. The heating is electric storage heaters, so hard to control temperatures and (in Nov) we were a bit cold at times. The bedroom is pretty, bed comfy (standard double) and everything you need in there. The bathroom was the low point. The septic tank smell was pretty disgusting and came through into the adjacent bedroom. There was also a pervading damp smell to these two rooms, which got into clothes (I had to wash everything twice at home to get rid of the smell in my clothes). This really was the low point and we would have complained, but for the realisation that nothing really could be done about it. I would suggest the building needs some work on these two points, as damp and sewage is not a welcoming smell for a holiday cottage! The bathroom also needs updating, with a rusty radiator and just generally old fashioned / outdated. I expected a bit more for the price to be honest.
