This property is part of our Welsh Country Cottages collection

An inspiring collection of properties chosen for their character, luxury and heritage, all graded 4 star and above..

This converted stone holiday cottage enjoys a peaceful setting on 57 acres of farmland and rolling countryside.

Situated just 5 minutes from Cardigan Bay and within easy reach to the whole of the beautiful Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire coastline and coastal walks, these three converted stone holiday cottages (refs OSB, OSC and OSC) are peacefully set on a farm with a selection of alpacas, donkeys, goats, ducks and chickens. The owners who live on the farm, which is set in 57 acres of rolling countryside, encourage the children to interact with the animals, and are also pleased to offer the use of a barbecue hut nicknamed the ‘Hobbit House’ by the family. Guests can hire it during their stay directly with the owners, subject to availability and for a small charge. The owner can also supply their own barbecue meat packs on request (charge payable). There is bike storage in the barn if you would like to bring your own bikes.
Within a 15-minute drive visitors can discover quaint New Quay, famous for the bottlenose dolphins that can often be seen from the harbour (boat trips available in season). The colourful, Georgian, harbour town of Aberaeron is just a bit further up the coast road, with its chic shops and plenty of restaurants. Antique shoppers and browsers will enjoy the nearby market town of Newcastle Emlyn, and Cenarth with its waterfalls is also close by and offers indoor swimming, coracle rides, fishing and paintballing. There are numerous attractions in the area, particularly suitable for children.

Nearby is the Cardigan Island Coastal Farm Park, which is set on a headland overlooking the nature reserve of Cardigan Island, home to thousands of sea birds. At the foot of the cliffs, a colony of Atlantic grey seals can be observed in their natural habitat. Spectacular coastline and wonderful views can be savoured from the NT-managed Penbryn Bay and a visit to NT Cilgerran Castle can also be enjoyed. Only the ruins remain of this striking 13th-century castle, whose vantage point overlooks the wonderful Teifi Gorge. Also nearby is the town of Cardigan with its restored medieval castle. The Teifi Valley Railway is another experience for the visitor, a 2 mile journey offers wonderful views of the valley and countryside. Golf and horse riding can also be found locally. Shops 1 mile.

The Stables (OSB), The Granary (OSC) and The Cottage (OSD) can be booked together to accommodate up to 12 guests.

Lovely cottage. The area is a bit limited for amenities. Without good weather there would not be much to do. With good weather the beaches are amazing and not far from cottage. We met the owners who were very nice and extremely helpful.

The Stables is terrific in many respects, not least the welcoming, friendly and helpful hosts. The accommodation is great and the location superb for beach walks and access to all sorts of attractions. The cottage is away from traffic and the associated noise, and the animals (donkeys, alpacas, goats, ducks) are a constant source of entertainment - particularly for kids. Make sure you cook up a storm in the BBQ but, too.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for leaving your lovely review. It was a pleasure to have your family stay with us for 2 weeks. The donkeys enjoyed all their grooming & we appreciated your help with the ducks. We hope to welcome you back one day.

This was our second visit & our last. We paid £700 yet decided to leave early losing money !! Welcome pack consisted of one stale cake, 1 pint of milk. They left one toilet roll .. First thing we had to do is go shopping for toilet rolls, fairy liquid .. fly spray !!! We expected flies being on a working farm but they moved two donkeys from the pack into a field so close to the cottage that the braying of the donkeys woke us at first light and the flies from the manure was huttendous !! No exaggeration!! Also they allowed a large vehicle towing a caravan with two large dogs aboard to camp right under our main bedroom window ..could hear every sound from them.. Also they need to sack their cleaner ..the only good things were the cobwebs that caught the flies .. Windows & corners filled with cobwebs !! So NO ... we will not be returning and lost £100 just to come home early !!!

Response on behalf of the owner; We were really sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy your return visit to Cefnllaethdre. And if we are honest a little stunned at the review you left, considering you did nothing but praise the place during your stay. If you’d only mentioned your grievances during one of our many daily chats, and given us chance to rectify the situation. We would have tried our best to sort things for you and make your stay a memorable one for the right reasons. As for the spiders, that may of been the fact that your windows and doors were open for the duration of your stay because of the exceptionally hot weather. Thank you for taking the time to leave your review.

Totally faultless. Clean, well equipped. Beautiful setting within driving distance of many beaches. Everything you could wish for in a cottage break. The animals on the property are the icing on the cake. Welcoming owners. Felt like a home from home Didn’t want to leave.
