Expected to knock and ask for things........toilet paper ran out on day two! Bought some more ourselves. Hand washes ran out and left with a watered down one. No washing tabs for clothes, again bought some. No hoover or broom, cleanliness for ourselves during a week's stay. No bin bags for rubbish after the first one filled. As for being dog friendly......dog tolerant would be more accurate. It was made clear that our dog should not get on the furniture or be allowed in the bedrooms, neither acceptable to us but we did try and comply. He doesn't shed hair and is extremely well behaved. Photo in brochure is deceptive as to vicinity in relation to the owner's house. Would not revisit.

Response on behalf of the Owner; We are sad our property did not meet your expectations as we have taken great care to maintain our average 8.8 score over nine years. However, I was pleased your wife told me she was enjoying the cottage and the homemade cake, when she attended the village fete, while you were off for the day. It was a great shame that you never asked for supplies nor discussed your issues with me. After arrival we don't tend to see our clients, although we are available and happy to help. We wish to address your comments: Hotels are all inclusive, whereas Holiday Lets provide starter supplies, after which clients are expected to buy their own. Rubbish bags and broom were provided. We do not expect clients to hoover, as they are on holiday, but we would happily have supplied one, if requested. Washing powder was offered when you arrived. Castle House Cottage is a Dog Friendly property as verified by the previous reviewers, and multiple others. Under your Terms and Conditions with Cottages.com, No.14 regarding dogs clearly states "dogs are not allowed on beds or furniture". We are delighted that our clients always rate Cleanliness very highly. The description of the property accurately states Castle House Cottage as forming part of the owner’s property. The entirely separate drives and three lawn areas afford privacy, both to clients and owners.

What a sweet little cottage. The owners are absolutely lovely, they were thoughtful and generous in providing a cake to welcome us. The house was once, we think, an annex to the main house. It's very basic, but has everything you could need. We were very comfortable here for a long weekend as two adults and two children (aged 5 and 7) and our dog!
